Winamp Build: Winamp v5.0 / 5.01 (x86) - Dec 19 2003
OS, Including Service Packs: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] Service Pack 1 Including all current windows updates.
System specs (mobo, cpu, ram): Sony Vaio PCG-GR300P Laptop
Intel Pentium III 1.2 GHz
512MB RAM
Video Card, Video Card Drivers: Mobility Radeon
Sound Card, Sound Card Drivers: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
DirectX version: DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)
Plugin and Plugin Version: Nullsoft Modern Skins Support v1.0 (gen_ff.dll)

1. When I change workspaces in BB4Win Winamp jumps to seemingly random points on the screen when using a modern skin. Switching to classic skin results in normal behavior.

When I restart BB4Win while Winamp is running with a modern skin an unresponsive Winamp classic appears mostly off screen but the top left corner of the classic player can be seen in the bottom right corner of the screen. The still responsive modern skinned winamp window remains but the only way to get rid of the classic artifact is to completely exit winamp. (this may be related to: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....76#post1202376 )

2. When in modern mode, selecting the option "Always on Litestep Virtual Desktops" results in winamp crashing. (workaround... don't check it )

(from the Windows error reporting app)
AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.0 ModName: gen_ff.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00014c01

(From the Event Viewer)
Faulting application winamp.exe, version 5.0.0.0, faulting module gen_ff.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00014c01.

[EDIT: 12/20/03]

For the record NONE of these issues were resolved in the 5.01 update. Although the classic skin artifact has changed now to only show a tiny piece of the upper left corner, I can actually get the winamp menu from this classic skin artifact.

WA5 crashes with modern Skins

Here we go.
Specs first:
Win98 First Edition
IE 6.0 SP1
SB Live Value
GF4 TI 4200 with Deto 55.04

I made an absolutely clean install of WA5. It starts normally with the Old Skin(s).
Then i tried to load a Modern Skin.
WA5 crashes instantly, with the follwing message:

WINAMP causes an exception error in Module GEN_FF.DLL at 0177:0124df07.

Register:

I searched the forum already and played arround with several options for the skins - no success.
It hangs up and crashes immediatly.
I dont know what i can do furthermore and hope, you can help me.

Number 2:
When i try to access the options of WA5 Modern Skins, i always get this message:

error parsing xml layer (tooltips-elements.xml).

xml processing instruction not at start of external entity of line 1.

But ONLY when i try to access the options the first time after i launched WA5 and only for the options of modern skins.

Mine is kinda the the same as mon0's problem, in regards to the file that the error references (gen_ff.dll). This is a fresh install of Winamp (multiple times). After changing a few settings (turning both the Litestep settings on, removing WA from the taskbar, and only showing it in the systray), creating (or just loading a previously saved playlist), then listening to one song, I tried to open the playlist. I then got the following error:

(from the Windows error reporting app)AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.0 ModName: gen_ff.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00014c01

(From the Event Viewer)Faulting application winamp.exe, version 5.0.0.0, faulting module gen_ff.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00014c01.

I had not installed any 3rd-party plugins, and I was using the modern skin (however I've tried another skin -mmd3- and received the same error. I've re-installed Winamp a few times (manually cleaning out the registry of any winamp references), and before the last re-install, I received the above error, then tried to start winamp up again and received the error directly when it was starting up, too.

I'm running WinXP Pro SP1, 2.6MHz, 512RAM, DirectX 9.0a, an onboard Intel graphics card, along with onboard sound (this is my work machine, so nothing special).

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Yes, this is a known issue,
report already sent to devs.
Uncheck Litestep options for now.
This will hopefully be fixed.
Don't know when though...
Sorry

video stutters - especially mpg's. tried all options i could find. audio seems un-affected through stutters though.

also, with video associations set to winamp 5, sometimes i have to double click video files several times to get them ot open up in winamp 5.

searching for artists with foreign characters in their name doesn't work in the media library.
The library should be able to substitute these characters with ones on the keyboard.
Eg. Winamp should include èêéë when a search includes a regular e.

Directsound error

Winamp 5.0
Win XP SP1
Asus Nforce2/ AthlonXP 2500+/512mb pc2700 sdram
Hercules geforce2mx 64mb
Nforce onboard sound /Driver version 6.14.348.0
Directsound 2.2.8

Winamp plays mp3's/wavs/etc fine. However, when I put in a cd, I get an error message. The same message pops up everytime the player switches tracks. Song plays fine after I hit the ok button.

Message box Title: "Directsound output v2.2.8 error"
Message: "Error creating Directsound Buffer. Error Code 80070057" and an Ok button.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Same message appears when using DS 2.2.6

EDIT2: I fixed it! Appparently it's tied to the Sonic engine problem that many people are having.

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=157326

When I performed the fix prescribed in that thread, this problem went away automatically.

Nullsoft Module Decoder v2.2.10 beta29 [in_mod.dll]

When playing module files (IT, S3M, MOD etc), the Winamp 5 module decoder seems to remove all channels that use the S91 (invert right channel waveform) effect.

These channels are basically duplicates of others, except that they are supplied with slightly different sounding samples. This technique results in a different-sounding instrument.

Because these channels are removed, the entire song sounds different from what it should.

Forgive me if this is incorrect. I haven't been able to find an option to change this.

gen_ml bug:

The media library toggle is wParam = 40339.... but after it has been opened at least once just about any wParam opens it.

Go ahead and try it out (make sure you open the ML at least once... otherwise the bug does NOT always show up - make sure to close it before sending another message since the non-40339 messages only open the ML):

sendmessage(wahnd, WM_COMMAND, 46666, 0)

sendmessage(wahnd, WM_COMMAND, 50339, 0)

etc.

vis_milk.dll bug

Mentioned in: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=158748

When running Milkdrop 1.04b in Full Screen, pressing Escape exits full screen mode, but continues to run visualisation in browser. Pressing Shift-Ctrl-K neither exits nor re-enters Milkdrop in full-screen mode.

The Milkdrop 1.04 works correct.

I recently updated my vga-drivers from cat3.9 to cat3.10 and milkdrop 1.04 didn't start. CreateDevice; code 2154
After opening milkdrop configuration, everything was back to normal.

I guess it's a glitch, probrably also in 1.04b.

Ati Radeon 8500, cat3.10

AVS and other visualosations

Problem Description: When activating AVS visualisations in WINAMP 5.0/5.01, it suddenly uses 99% processor time, effectively blocking other running processes. It also affects the WINAMP UI visualisations (beat meter and spectrum analyzer) which seem to skip frames. Music though plays fine.

I've seen this with APE and MP3 music files.

Even when no music is playing, but the visualisation window is made visible this happens.

I've also tried running the Sonique Visual Plugin Wrapper 2.0 and this has the same effect as the AVS plugin.

Winamp Build 5.0/5.01
Windows XP, SP1
ASUS A7V8X, AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1 GB Ram
Asus V8460 Ultra, Forceware 53.03
Soundblaster Live!, Driver 5.12.0001.0252
DirectX 9.0b
AVS v2.80 & v2.81b

media library errors with talking marks/double quotes

first, specs

ver - 5.01pro
OS - Win2ksp4
DX - 9.0b
gigabyte 7va mo bo/512mb ram/athlon1700+
gf4ti4200 8x w/ 128mb ram 52.16 drivers
sb live basic & avance ac97 for via sound.

I have the artist "Weird Al" Yankovic. the songs when manualy added to the playlist via explorer for example play fine. the media libary shows the artist with the correct number of albums, however when one selects that artist to play or enqueue no song appere in the songs list or the albums in the albums list. i have not tried with single quotes.

these albums by this artist i'd just ripped with winamp. the songs where named with the info from cddb

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Known issue.
For now, use two apostrophes instead of quotation marks.
Edit tags via playlist then rescan media folders
(might need to remove specific entries from library first).

Hello,

Here's a few bugs in Winamp 5:

• Crossfade causes Winamp to crash. I don't know why I get random crashes, but I'm quite sure that it's caused by the crossfading feature. When disabled, Winamp hasn't crashed on it's own (yet). But when enabled, Winamp crashes occasionally whenever it wants when playing in the background.

• Media keys restart file.This bug is applicable to Winamp 2.X as well. I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical with media keys to control playback. If I launch an MP3 in Winamp and suddenly wants to pause it with the media play key, Winamp too often restarts the song instead of pausing it. This is horrible when watching movies in Winamp! The play key shouldn't do this. If one would like to restart the song, the stop key should first be pressed prior to the play key.

There are also a few bugs with the Media Library that causes text to disappear, but I bet you'll sort them out by yourselves.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

1. Cannot reproduce.
Please provide system specs
and follow guidelines outlined in first post in thread.

2. That would be a limitation of your keyboard.
Winamp has separate Play and Pause buttons/commands.
Your keyboard combines the two into one.
Use the Global Hotkeys feature instead.

Streaming OGG HTTP AUTH bug

It appears as though HTTP Streaming an OGG using HTTP AUTH authentication does not work. The status says "Connecting..." but immediately moves on to the next file. In my test configuration, the same OGG will stream correctly if I move it to an area on the webserver not protected by authentication.

media library categorisation glitch

hiya.. here's my system:

winamp 5.01 free (full, clean inst.)
windows xp, sp1
gigabyte ga-7vrxp mobo, w/ athlon xp 2k+

this prolly has nothing to do with my system, but i figured i'd list it just in case you can't reproduce it.

in the media library, if two artists' names have nothing but punctuation/symbols... then it seems to be automatically grouping them together. for instance, i've noticed that "!!!" and "+/-" show up seperately under the "artist" panel, but if you click on either one of them, their combined albums (and songs) show up in the "albums" (and "songs," etc, etc) panels.

not really a huge issue, but something that you might look into during future revisions.

2. How can it be that the pause feature may restart the song? Let's say the pause and play keys are combined on my keyboard, what difference does it make? Still, it's only play and pause, not stop.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Because when you click the Play button in Winamp, it restarts the song.
That's what the Play command does in Winamp.
Because you've only got one Play/Pause key on your mm kybd,
Winamp has no way of knowing whether it's been sent a Play or Pause command.
My kybd has separate Play & Pause keys, therefore I don't have this problem.
You should map a global hotkey for the pause function instead.

I'm not sure if this is a plugin bug or a player bug, but when Milkdrop is on fullscreen (on my secondary display) any other windows within winamp (except for the main player) become useless and respond to nothing except for the x button

Asus GF4 Ti 4200

Bug in in_midi.dll

Spec:
Winamp Build 5.01
in_midi.dll ver 3.03
Windows XP, SP1a, UR1
ASUS Nforce2 A7N8XDeluxe, AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 1 GB Ram
ATI radeon 9700 pro, Omega Catalyst 3.10
Soundstorm, Driver 6.14.366.7
DirectX 9.0b

I'm not sure what causes the problem, but if one create a text file for example with the content "aeogpombosrmfmbsomb950åäe4yY#"!%" and renames the file to "foo.mid" and tries to play it in winamp, the player will crash.

I tested to disable "try to recover incomplete tracks" without success.

The file shuldn't be identified as a midi-file because it lacks an correct header.

Another problem is when I open a large amount of files at the same time. opening about 300+ files at the same time will also crash winamp.

Tray control previous track resets the current track

I'm running winamp 5.01 on an Athlon XP 2500+ with 512mb of RAM on Windows 2000.

I have the tray control enabled showing previous track, play/pause, and next track. Simply, when I click on the previous track button, it resets the track and doesn't move to the previous track in my playlist. Seems strange I didn't notice it before, but I've tested it a few times on my computer and it appears that the problem happens every time.

Donatello (modern color theme) BUG

Using the modern skin with the color theme DONATELLO, the object in the playlist being played is the same color than the objects not being played. This is the only color theme to have this bug.

Thx

"The (" in Media Library

In Media Library there is a bug when an artist name starts with "The (". I only know of one example of this: The (International) Noise Conspiracy. (They really have these parenthesis around "International".)

Anyway in Media Library it looks like this:

Winamp creates a new artist for every song.

As you can see by the two last entries in the list it works fine if you remove either the parenthesis or the "The".

Winamp 5.01
Windows XP SP1
Athlon XP 1800+
Geforce 4 Ti4200, nVIDIA drivers v53.03
Creative Audigy, driver v5.12.1.253
DirectX 9.0a

I have problems with Nullsoft Module Decoder v2.2.10 beta29 [in_mod.dll] (Previous versions also contains this bug)

I've created some "music" when I was younger. Not counting how horrible it is, it's even annoying if I play it with Winamp. The problem is, I have a very, very short sample in it, of couse looped. And i made an instrument entry with this sample, and made some panning adjustment, that's also looped, but it's much longer than the sample itself. In the "music", the sound of the sample should be moving from left to right and back, but when I play it with Winamp, it just stays at the left. Impulse Tracker plays it fine (That's because I created the music with that )

I uploaded the IT module here: http://ural2.hszk.bme.hu/~sz555/zolie.it

Problem found with disabled devices/shoutcast/ds output plugin

Winamp 5.01 (A few skins/enhancer dsp plugin)
System specs (GA-7DX+, AMD 1500+, 512MB pc2100)
Windows XP, SP1 - All critical updates installed.
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX440-64MB, Forceware 53.03
Onboard Via AC97, 5.1.2535.0 Microsoft provided driver
Philips Seismic Edge (PSC705 WDM), 5.12.1.50
DirectX version 9.0b

I've got the philips psc705 routed to my speaker sound system, the via is routed to some attached headphones.
Problem:

Options->Preferences->
Plugins->Output
DirectSound output v2.2.8

My system has two soundcards available, in XP I can only switch between them by disabling one or the other.

If the DirectSound plugin is configured for a disabled soundcard (in this case let's say I disabled the philips pci card) and winamp plays any file (mp3s..etc.) but a shoutcast stream it will give the error:
title
"DirectSound output v2.2.8 error"
message
"Device not found. Please select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780078"

After that winamp will remain running, no crash or anything...but if I try this while playing a shoutcast stream (let's say something from www.ranttv.com) it will display the same message above...but winamp will also hangup/freeze and I will be forced to terminate the process.

Subject:
http 1.1 requests for ogg lead to chunked encoding which winamp does not handle ok

I did not realize that it is meant to post in this thread before. Mabee you should rename "IN HERE" to "IN THIS THREAD".

Anyway, here my report goes again..

I do not post system specifications because these do not influence this one.

Also, I am unsure if this bug comes from winamp itself or a plugin, so I guessed plugin.

BUG:
- When requesting an ogg file from a http server it sends this request in http 1.1.

- If the responding ogg file does not have a known length the content length http header is missing and by http 1.1 specification the file is sent in chunked encoding.

- Winamp does not appear to handle chunked encoding correctly - it interprets the chunk-data as ogg-data and thus plays the audio very jerky.

Recommended solutions:
- Send request in http 1.0 instead of 1.1 as it is done for mp3 files
or
- handle chunked encoding correctly.

Here are some http headers I collected:

Normal MP3:
GET /yarf/In_The_MUCK.mp3;jsessionid=39EEDAA5A279E88FBBFB2EBE85EEB94F?trackid=1&file.mp3 HTTP/1.0..Host: yarf.sytes.net..User-Agent: WinampMPEG/5.0..Accept: */*..Icy-MetaData:1..Connection: close....

HTTP/1.1 200 OK..Content-Type: audio/x-mpeg..Content-Location: In_The_MUCK_28k.mp3..Date: Tue, 13 Jan 2004 13:30:06 GMT..Server: Apache Coyote/1.0..Connection: close....

Ogg:
GET /yarf/In_The_MUCK.ogg;jsessionid=39EEDAA5A279E88FBBFB2EBE85EEB94F?trackid=1&file.ogg HTTP/1.1..Host:yarf.sytes.net..User-Agent:Winamp..Accept:*/*....

HTTP/1.1 200 OK..Content-Type: application/x-ogg..Content-Location: In_The_MUCK_isdn.ogg..Transfer-Encoding: chunked..Date: Tue, 13 Jan 2004 13:32:33 GMT..Server: Apache Coyote/1.0....

I have sent DJ Egg information on how to test the real streams ony my server where I found that problem.

Thanx in Advance,

@Morkeleb

I can't get any streams on your server to work.
However, all other ogg streams work perfectly fine for me, eg.

www.icecast.org
bemetal radio
rockradio

I'm not sure about this http 1.1 / chunked encoding situation,
but I/we will get someone to look into it.

MIME for ogg is: application/ogg

&type=foo.ogg

Winamp 5.01 bare installation
MSI KT4V-L, Amd Athlon 1800+, 256 mb pc 2100
Windows XP, SP1 all updated
Nvidia GeForce FX5200 newest drivers
Onboard Via AC97, 5.1.0.4010.0
DirectX version 9.0b

this bug gets really reall annoying but, i use winamp to play my music in many games, and lately i have had a couple videos in my directory and when it tries to play the video behind the game winamp immediately crashes. Its just annoying, the workaround i use is just to go through my playlist and delete the video entries but i was wondering if you could fix this thanks

Info:
Winamp 5.01
Windows 98 SE
366MHz Pentium II, 320MB RAM
ATI Rage something
"Maestro" sound card
DirectX 9b
Nullsoft Winamp Library v2.01

Steps:
Using the classic skin, enlarge the media library's Local Media->Audio main song view cell so that there is no horizontal scrollbar. Attempt to scroll through the song list by dragging the vertical scrollbar.

Result: For every move of the scrollbar, the view is repositioned to the top of the list *then* scrolled to the appropriate position. When dragging the scrollbar deep in the list, I can see nothing but heavy flickering of the songs at the top of the Audio view, until I stop scrolling (only then can I see my true position in the Audio view).

Expected: Smooth scrolling as if I had simply clicked the scroll up & down buttons.

EDIT: Modification to steps; the cause of the problem wasn't quite what I thought at first. The problem also occurs with every Media Library View, not just "Audio."

@DJ Egg:
I just now attempted to reproduce the bug on three different computers here, with fresh new WinAmp 5.01 installs.

(Less Wordy) Steps:
In any Media Library View such as Recenty Played, enlarge the window so that it wholly encompasses all of the display fields OR eliminate/shrink the fields until they fit wholly inside the window. Scroll by dragging the vertical scrollbar.

Windows XP
1.5GHz P4, 512MB RAM
GeForce 2 video card
DirectX 9b
Results: Scrolls with no oddities.

Windows 98 SE
200MHz POverdrive, 96MB RAM
ATI Mach64 video card
DirectX 9b
Results: True scroll position not displayed while dragging the bar: instead, heavy flickering of a single arbitrary position in the view.

Windows 98 SE
366MHz P2, 320MB RAM
ATI Rage LT Pro video card
DirectX 9b
Results: True scroll position not displayed while dragging the bar: instead, heavy flickering of a single arbitrary position in the view.

This seems to be a Win98/SE bug, or perhaps a problem with older-generation video cards.

I hope this bug doesn't go under "Win98 isn't supported, so it won't be fixed." ;_;

Problems playing some ogg files

The decoder shipped with most latest versions of WA doesn't play some files encoded with older versions of ogg codec (for example, Xiphophorus libVorbis I 20011217), neither it displays info box.. The only solution I've found is to roll back to old ogg decoder, v. 1.2.9

Windows XP SP1 (with all updates as of Jan 31, 2004)
P4 2.8GHz With HyperThreading
ABit IS7 MotherBoard (800MHz FSB)
GeForceFX 5200 128MB 8xAGP Video Card
1GB RAM
Creative Audigy 2.0 Platinum Ex Soundcard
WinAmp 5.01 (x86)
Logitech Cordless MX DUO Wireless Mouse & Keyboard

Two Bug Reports:
1: This bug has been reported, but the user was not specific enough for anything to be done about it. The problem is when the Play/Pause button on a Logitech Keyboard is pressed WinAmp seems to Restart Playback instead of pausing, and other times it pauses like it should. After someplaying with it I have found that WinAmp seems to toggle the meaning of this key back and forth regaurdless of the status of playback (ie. you press is 1st time it's a play button. Second time, pause. Third time play, etc.....) This workaround works fine AS LONG AS the user begins playback with the play button their key board. Perhaps instead of working around the shared key problem in this way WinAmp should instead, check it's own status, and act accordingly. (ie. if playback is stopped, it should be a play button. If playback is either playing or paused, it should be recognized as a Pause Button. This should allow WinAmp to act as expected during almost all occurrences

2: Much simpler Bug. During MP3 playback, if the volume is adjusted on the fullscreen control (Default Modern Skin), the volume does change, but the Volume bar does not change. The Volume bar does opperate as expected during Video Playback.

All that said, for a 5.01 release, WinAmp is working very well. Great Job on a great free program. Keep up the good work

Disk Writer plug-in appears to be crashing

Winamp: Build 5.01 x86
OS: Win2000 Pro, SP4, German
Sys: MSI K7N2 DELTA, Athlon XP 2500+, 512MB RAM
VGA: MSI FX-5200-T, Driver V 6.14.10.5303
Audio:
1. NVIDIA nForce onBoard; Driver V 6.14.0375.0000
2. Creative SBLive! Platinum; Driver V 5.12.0001.0252
DirectX version: 9.0b
Plugin and Plugin Version: Disk Writer V 2.0c (x86)

how to reproduce:

1. in preferences - plugins - output select Disk Writer plug-in
2. insert standard (commercial) audio cd into cd-rom; there is no copy protection applied to the cds i tried out

result:
1. a second instance of the winamp logo appears in the system tray
2. winamp doesn't react any longer to any clicks or commands
3. although the cd-rom's led is off, the drive appears to be spinning sonstantly
4. the cd-rom doesn't react at all to presses of the eject button
5. winamp can't be forced to shut down through right clicking the tray symbols and hitting "exit"
6. trying to force winamp to shut down through windows task manager / applications the standard dialog "do you..." appears; confirming the dialog doesn't have any result at all (apart from the dialog being closed
7. trying to forcibly shut down winamp through the task manager / processes window: process "winampa.exe" can be shut down; trying to shut down "winamp.exe" results in an error message "can't shut down..." or similar.
8. looking at disk writer's target directory i can see the first track (.cda extension) with a size of 40 bytes which doesn't change at all.

hope this helps

Windows 98 computers will constantly redraw the beginning of that Media View as the scrollbar is moved, making your current position in the view utterly undiscernable.
I was hoping this bug had been fixed in 5.02, seeing that a redrawing Playlist Editor bug had been fixed. But no such luck. =(

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Cannot reproduce this on any supported OS.
Tested with Windows 98SE, 2000, XP
Could be an Win98FE limitation related issue, or a display driver bug...?

>= 5.00

(as visualisation setup MilkDrop)
(as skin use classic)

~~~~~~~~
1. When winamp in normal WindowShade mode, dblClick on "Classic Visualisation", it open MilkDrop and "Classic Visualisation" don't change.
But when winamp in "line" WindowShade mode, dblClick on "Classic Visualisation", it open MilkDrop and "Classic Visualisation" change, like I 2 separate times click on it...
2. Winamp have "Always on top" = on. Make MilkDrop on fullscreen and return it on window mode. "Always on top" lost. (in menu it still checked, but not active)
3. MilkDrop work in window mode. If press "pause", winamp "eat" vera much CPU resource.
4. in Media Library after first click on "Now Playing", long time Media Library like sleep (I think while loading IE-component)
~~~~~~~~

And you yet do not want to add in Media Library ps parameter a way to a file? For search and on it.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

5.00 ???
Latest version is 5.02
#3 is a known issue
Can't reproduce or understand 1/2/4

Win2000Pro SP4

Jump To File Extra v0.94d

In the Jump To File Extra options, I've selected "Restore last position of the dialog on opening". When I reopen the dialog by pressing 'J', the dialog will not reappear on the exact spot, but will open a bit higher up the screen than the last time I opened it. Eventually it'll leave the visible screen area.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Hmm . . . can't reproduce this one either.
Try reporting it in the JTFE thread. See if DrO can reproduce/diagnose it.
Also tell us which skin you are using (classic/modern/3rd-party)
and whether the "skin jtf" option is enabled or not.

[/Edit]

I'm using the default modern skin and I'm not skinning the jump to file dialog. I've been using the plugin before it was made a part of the winampinstaller and haven't experienced this before. I just installed v.0.92j again and the problem didn't occur anymore. But when I reinstalled v.0.94d, the same thing happened again. I'll post this in the other thread too.

After upgrading to 5.02 from 5.01, when I try playing a large playlist from the media library, there is a ~5 second delay between when I double click the song and when it plays (playlist size of 1,034 songs). This issue was not in 5.01, so I made a copy of the 5.02 install and downgraded it to 5.01 - no suprise, the issue is only in 5.02, 5.01 works fine.

I have the exact same problem as you, and did the exact same thing... 5.01 works fine, but 5.02 has a delay

when its waiting to play the next song, it turns to "not responding in the taskman, but after about 5 seconds, it plays

Winamp Build 5.02
XP SP1a
P4 Northwood, 512 MB RAM
Geforce MX460
Gainward 7.1 Hollywood
DX 9
Media Library 2.02

I've noticed that the new Media Library plug in is a lot slower than the 2.01 version. Specifically, if i double click 'Audio' on the left pane in the library, it takes a few processor intensive seconds to update the playlist where as in 2.01 it was always instant for me.

FYI, I have about 8gb of audio in 1464 files.

In 5.02

[Edit --> DJ Egg]

Double click?
A single click is all that's required.
