Hi !
There exists a skin on winamp... named STALIN.
I was wondering who's the reviewer of the skin ?
Just a short "r" behind the comment.
I think the review is SHIT !
Just as the reviewer seems to be (seems !).
The reviewer probably never read european history !
Hitler & Stalin = the same !

I also could make a holocaust (I don't know how to write "holocoust" in english) - skin with many dead victims and tell you that the skin is too much political...but anyway download it. That is what the author of the stalin skin did.
IN MY OPINION :
WHAT A SHIT !
WHAT A HECK IS GOING ON HERE ?

Two days ago an attempt was done against a jewish synagoge in Düsseldorf (Germany).

Why are such skins like STALIN supported by winamp ?

Well, troubled soul.

First, the Holocaust happened a long time ago. hitler may have been as asshole, but he was a good asshole till 1937, as he pulled germany out of a massive depression, and saved them totally.

Stalin was a communist. Enough said.

My family was killed by the germans and the russians.Anyway... And don't try to tell me that Stalin and Hitler are not the same !

No padlock yet....

Well just to be a prat and all, the world is a shit place and noone who isn't directly involved gives a damn. Sad but true. Only Hollywood seems to be able to wake the slumbering populace up every now and then... Of course the truth is borning so instead we get U-571, the Patriot, Braveheart, etc etc etc... And who gives a f**k if none of it is remotely true... History is dynamic. It exists to suit whatever minority, repressed, alienated individuals can find a use for it.

I would think that the majority of people really couldn't give a damn about Stalin or Hitler, unless they were involved somehow. So to them the skin is just an oddity, a little amusement. Is that so bad? If we are all still stuck in our own little histories then we can't move forward to make a new future. It should never be forgotten but instead used to make sure it never happens again. At least with a stupid little skin someone is going to see the name and perhaps even think about what it means for a little while.

a dictator's a dictator. They are both
considered evil by history for the most
part. They both were responisible for
killing millions of people, including
their own countrymen.

Still, also being an American, i don't believe censorship is the right anwser -
As a consumer of skins you have a right
of what to download and what not. I would
be more worried about REAL communists
rather than some stupid skin (And it's
equally stupid reviewer) I would just stop
thinking about it and move on...

And bilbo - Hitler broke most of the treaties
of versailles in his little revitalization
efforts... naughty naughty!

hey that reminds me of one of my favorite ads-

Well, maybe if you have a twisted definition of good.

Marek, Bilbo is from England.

To save everyone the trouble of finding it, here's the skin they're talking about: http://www.winamp.com/customize/deta...mponentId=3544
This one seems a lot worse to me: http://www.winamp.com/customize/deta...mponentId=8722
Listen to this: "a tribute to Joseph Stalin, wich I think was one of the world´s greatest persons ever." Well, I suppose he did do quite a bit to control overpopulation.

Censorship only leads to dictatorships, and vice versa. Just read 1984 or Fahrenheit 451

This is absolutely the worst shit I've ever read on these boards. Sure, Bilbo, the families and friends of the millions of people who were killed because of Hitler will take comfort from the fact that Hitler was a great political leader and economist... That makes me sick

Seems a little weird that Hitler is generally regarded as the ultimate evil dictator, but Stalin killed more people than Hitler, and Mao killed more people than Stalin.

Speaking of markedly less volatile stuff, you (yes, you) want to read both Nineteen Eighty-Four and Fahrenheit 451.

I have read both of them, and look at me! You want to be like me don't you?

Seriously though, they are both very good reads.

Personally, I don't care that much for 451, but it makes for such a good example. I LOVE 1984 (ooh! My birthdate !); so quotable. Very good, and yes, very sad. The suspense at the end is unbearable.

I think the premise of 451 is too
unrealistic- I really didn't like it.
(Although the parts about the wife who
is an addict to her 4 paneled TV
screen could merit a seperate book about
media addiction)

1984.... is quite excellent, of course.

I must say the best book I have
read in recent times, and I have
mentioned before is "Serious Creativity"
by edward debono. As far as "literature"
goes... "The Prince" was quite entertaining.
i wish it was longer though

Oh.. it wasn't a NY times best seller
or anything. Don't worry about being
uncultured.

I highly suggest it to ALL people -
heck most of DeBono's books are killer.

If you wanna read some things about
the book.. well I'm sure there are
amazon.com reviews, but before you
try that - look at this post in the
Skin Love Forum. There is a part where
i go on a rant about the subject
of Creativity. A lot my thoughts have been shaped by this book, so in that post i
am using lots of points from it.

Yeah, I thought that 451 was too contrived. Didn't seem too likely. 1984, on the otherhand, is possible, and that's what makes it so scary. It's an actual, working theory on social systems (Goldberg's(? Sheesh! Just read it again, and I forget the guy's name!) book), quite like Marx, and that makes the book in itself that much better.

I personally, am more into movies. Not box office crap, but good film fest fare. My favourite of all time is an amazing Aussie pic, Angel Baby. So good. If you haven't seen it yet, keep tuned to Showcase or Bravo (this is the ONE place where I feel Canucks have it good ), and they might show it. I'm not sure if it's out on video, but it's worth a look-see.

Well, it really doesn't surprise me to see that so many of you still get pissed off with hitler, and with good reason, he was an asshole, he was a murderor, and he did only have one ball (true)

I was merely pointing out the fact that, like all leaders (except Blair) he did some good for his country, he pulled Germany out of a massive depression. He gave the people food, work and freedom. He gave Germans their dignity back, which had been taken away at Versailles.
At heart though, he was a murderer, rascist and anti semanticist. (like most of Central and East Europe at the time). Once he was he could get away with murdering the Jews, he turned to the Slav people, Gypsies, Homosexuals, the mentally and physically disabled. Basically, if you were not blue eyed and blonde, and in perfect health, you were on his hit list (which is interesting, considering none of the leading Nazis were).

I see Marek hasn't been back in a few days to contribute to the discussion he/she started.

Word. Stalin was Evil. Hitler was insane. WWII was a time of great insanity, uglines nad cruelty from many directions. Very few countries have clean hands from that affair. Hitler killed Jews. Croatians killed Bosnians and Serbs. Americans firebombed 54 cities (not just Dresden). Spaniards killed each other. Frech colaborated with the Nazis and turned in their brothers. And Poles for the most part stood and watched as 4 million + people (Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, political prisoners et al) were killed/burned within it's borders. The Catholic church largely did nothing. ,[image]We are all to blame./image]

Now, a Stalin-amp skin is in poor taste but for generations so far removed, maybe it's a good thing that it is brought to their attention that he even exists. Otherwise the evil he did might be forgotton.

Marek - in english its called a Swastika

And yeah probably. Because that symbol symbolizes the all of the evil of the Nazi's,
and the skin would then be termed as
promoting "Hate"

I KNEW someone would bring that up - RM, i figure that if Swastika's were implemented in
the "E-india" skin i'm sure that the
swastika would be interpreted as such. BUT if the skin was grey and looked all warlike and stuff- I don't think people would think
its a good luck symbol.

Context is everything.
