Sorting Playlists Themselves in Alphabetical Order
Hi I am just wondering if it is possible to sort my winamp playlists in alphabetical order rather than by what date they are created. I mean the playlists themselves, not the tracks in the playlist. Say I create a playlist called "Sleep" first and then "Party" second. How do I make it so winamp automatically sorts "Party" above "Sleep" to keep alphabetical order?

Hi ExplodingShark8,
My playlists are sorted in alpha-numeric order in the media library listing. Maybe this is because I store all my playlists in the same folder and that folder is set to sort by filename. Windows 10 Home 64-bit v20H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Hi DJ Egg,
I often forget that the context menus are often the quickest way to get things done. ![]() But the options shown don't cover the case the OP stated. What could cause the playlists to be sorted by creation date? Windows 10 Home 64-bit v20H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Thanx for that reply. It explains why there is no check mark on the selected sort option. The selection is not persistent. This seems rather strange, but it's good to know how things work.

the right-click option just sorts what is present at the time. it isn't persistent since as Egg mentions, new playlists are just added to the end of the existing list and what was implemented for the menu is all i wanted do at the time.
it could be changed to auto-sort on adding or the additional option is having the means to sort within the root playlist view via the headers. -daz |

Hi DrO,
I suggest things be left as they are, since these playlists may not reflect the actual playlists anyway as you explained in another thread back in April. Windows 10 Home 64-bit v20H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

I am a big fan of the playlist function and no one was more excited than I when you implemented the alphabetical sorting feature. Truthfully, I think that I am one of the few that uses the playlist view, but I would love if you would implement some new features. Auto Sorting and sorting using the headers sounds like it would be a step up. I know that this is low on the priority list, but cool none the less. Thanks |

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty new to Winamp and couldn't figure it out.
