MP3 Playback hickup with new HD
Recently moved my media library to a new harddrive.
Winamp 5.621 plays movies from it just fine, but MP3 playback often pauses for a second or so in the middle of songs. I'm guessing the seek time of the HD is very long, and Winamp isn't buffering enough. Is there any way I can fix this? Some settings I haven't found yet? Works fine when playing the same files from old HD. Win7-64, Western Digital Green 3TB WD30EZRX Thanks in advance! |

Hi sarlacc,
There is a setting in the official mp3 decoder (in_mp3.dll) input plug-in's configuration panel that lets you tell the decoder to load all tracks below a selectable size into memory. Go to General Preferences - Plug-ins - Input, select the decoder and try setting the size to something larger than your biggest mp3 file. Have you run a defragmenter on your new drive? Thank you so much Aminifu!
Changed from 128kB buffer to 32MB, works like a charm! Case closed :-) Last edited by sarlacc; 6th October 2012 at 16:35. |
