Problem with mic settings

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. Couldn't find it. Here's the situation. Got Windows 10 on laptop, Winamp and shoutcast broadcasting fine initially using my ip as server until I get all the settings right. I can listen in on another device and sounds great. My problem is when i change the shoutcast setting for input device from Winamp to soundcard input I can't hear the music on the listening device but I can hear the mic without clicking on the push to talk button. By right clicking on the Windows speaker icon then playback, speaker is set as default and under recording mic in front panel is set as default. Also when changing back from soundcard input to Winamp the whole setup freezes. Any help will be greatfully received.

I believe Winamp DSP microphone has not worked properly in most systems since Vista

Is it just me or are shoutcast users getting dumber?
