Why 20 posts?

Wondering why I have to make 20 posts before I can edit my own profile. I just joined and logged in for the first time using my id and password. The welcome message said I could edit my profile. When I arrived at the place to edit my profile, I tried and got a message saying I did not have privileges to do this. What do I do now?

Spammers put spam links in their profiles. Requiring a number of posts before allowing such profile changes prevents spammers from being able to do this without considerable effort. You can still use the forums and post freely.

Yeah agreed, about only way you can prevent massive amounts of spammers.

Pretzel4 20 post is ok, i dotnt have problem witch this. Meybe this help to save place in server if user create account and add avatar then write 1 message and never back.

Well I's been some time since I've been here and I just came in after searching for my old usernames.

Got a new password and locked it in my password manager

saw an old outdated contact info in my profile I wanted to remove and I guess I had 19 posts so here is 20 so I can remove details from my profile.

with the years it now at least 30 posts
but don't start to post just to get to that amount.
We will delete them if you start postpumping just to get to a higher count.

If its 30 then why not update the error message to indicate that?
I'm not going to just add posts to try and reach a value that is not even known.

I wish I was still involved with NSIS as then I'd have reason to post things still.
