Got Wavestreaming, but now...
I got the idea that I want to broadcast my eclectic music tastes to my friends and anyone else who might stumble upon my broadcast and not trying to make any money. I have a server, and I am going through Wavestream that was featured on the Broadcast Now! tab. I use Virtual DJ Broadcaster to set up the playlists and stream them. I don't have any licensing for copyrighted material, though. Did I rush into things by going through Wavestream instead of LoudCity or live365? DO I need one of those in addition to Wavestream? Please help an enthusiastic, but terribly wet-behind-the-ears n00b out!

If you do not own the music or gotten permission directly, chances are you need licensing.
So check StreamLicensing.com to get licensing for your stream. |

If you have no stream hosting, both Loudcaster (http://www.loudcaster.com) and Live365 (http://www.live365.com) offer plans that cover royalties and provide the servers.
LoudCity (http://www.loudcity.com) and stream licensing (link above) offer royalty coverage where you bring your own server(s). |

If you want to broadcast using Wavestreaming you could use http://streamlicensing.com or get a vpn and use http://webradioworld.com since your stream would originate from the UK to the UK. Check the rates there as well. http://streamlicensing.com has rates starting at $22 and allows you to stream commercials too if you want thus the opportunity to make a little money if you get sponsors. Its a possibility to look into.

Thanks everyone! I understand the process a bit better now. I am not sure if I am going to do the Loudcaster/365 server or stay with Shoutcast and Wavestreaming. I can make a more informed decision now, though.
