Talking MMD3 Preview and a few scripting questions

Huhu...

Ok I have been away for a long long time.
But 2 weeks ago ago I have seen that the new Winamp version is now final. Really great engine.
I immediately start to design a new version from my old V2 "metrix metal dream" skin.
It is somewhat more complex but now you have incredible possibilities to make very unique skins. I love the new engine... THX Winamp.

Heres is a preview of the new Metrix Metal Dream skin. I called it MMD3.

The player and equalizer is full working.
I am more a designer than a coder but coding MAKI makes really fun.
I have already finished 5 scripts but its sometimes very difficult to find out how some things can be done.

At the moment I have 2 special problems.
1. I need the status of the "auto" button in the equalizer to set a LED-Light. Can this be found anywhere with getItem/getAttribute???
Or any other ways.
2. I search a notify for the action when a color-themes is being switched.
Or the name of the actual used color-theme???
I think it must be possible with a special GUID

THX for your help...

excellent, it looks amazing (this is why I visit these forums)
but it is too big for my liking, i would ake up half the screen, I know you can make the scale smaller but then buttons come hard to see.
anyhow, fantastic job.

It's wonderful! very functional! I wanna use this skin
but a bit big of course.. but if there's a smaller mode, then its perfect!

I just want to pick it up and put it in my pocket

how'd did you make it look so real?!

Talking large...

I admit it is actually somewhat larger.
But you can find every function directly at first attempt and you can better mark the buttons.
My goal is to be made a surface which can be used very simply.
I think many users work with screen resolutions 1280 and higher.
Small surfaces are hard to use on them.

Normally I make screen designs for the internet. There the usability plays a very important role, too.

But, there will be 2 smaller modes for the daily use.

hrm, looks very sweet
the only thing with me is that LED to the left of the display...the color of it doesn't go with the rest of the skin in both the green and blue versions

Looks good, the desigs is great. Some people actually like larger skins, especially people who have a small monitor and insist on running a high screen rez then complain to skinners about not seeing buttons.

Keep at it.

Theres no way I could come up with that. I can re-create the effects on the skin but now its been done, but could not come up with the original ideas myself. Not sure if that makes sense to you but hopefully someone understands me =).

Talking to Robouk

calm down... (hehe)
you exaggerate there a little bit...

I really love your D-Shock-Skin. It is looking so smooth and the colors fits perfect together. The shapes of the elements are perfect and and and...
I dont't think it would look so good if you would make it more realistic, e.g. with reflections...

Exactly the same as it is now - it has the charm that I love.

Can´t wait for the final WAL-Version...

Question

Any ideas for the scripting problems???

At the moment I have 2 special problems.
1. I need the status of the "auto" button in the equalizer to set a LED-Light. Can this be found anywhere with getItem/getAttribute???
Or any other ways.

2. I search a notify for the action when a color-themes is being switched.
Or the name of the actual used color-theme???
I think it must be possible with a special GUID

thx Naamloos

I will try #1...

to #2... aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
It must be possible. I will spend again a few hours to check this out. I think very many people would like to have a little MAKI to do this.

I hope I can do this...

Wow. Where to start..

This skin is simply amazing. The included visualations are great, the wide variety of color themes is a plus, ease of use from every apsect of WA3, and the winshade mode is very nice.

Awesome skin you have created here. Everything is very easy to gain access to and the overall design is terrific. Again, great job on the skin. An instant favorite on my side.

There isn't enough positive adjectives to compliment this skin.

A triple plus! Two big thumbs up! What more can you ask for? This skin has a ton of usability tweaks worked in, and with all it's color themes, is really stylish as well. I've observed the following small things that make me happy:

Click on the song ticker. This makes me happy.

Multiple volume controls (animated seek bar or knob). This makes me happy.

Embedded themes window. Awesome. This makes me happy.

Play controls and pos bar on all standardframe windows. This makes me very happy.

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

It's like an early Christmas present! Thanks for the great skin! The most amazing thing to me is that even with all the options and advanced vis's, it uses hardly any resources at all. And I love being able to switch color themes like that!

Come to think of it, it might be cool if a player could rotate through the different themes on it's own while listening to music.

Holy schnikies, this is one AWESOME skin. Everything's here, animated and integrated, and the winshade mode is just as incredible as the main window. The custom visualizations are great, the color themes are awesome and worked into the main window, the customizability is all there. This may or may not be the epitome of skinning.

Every now and again a skin comes along that raises the bar... this is definately one that does that..

I'm looking forward to seeing this one on top for quite some time.

Things like this that make my work at skinning look like childs play.

Too thumbs up like Gonzo:
