I have some good news! razmansix would like to release a public beta!

I am going to put together the mini mode which should take about a couple days, and then release what I have so far. I'll try to have the gammagroup system finalized by that time so that anyone who is motivated can begin working on color themes.

But please, be patient! I'm working as fast as I can!

Yep a beta would be ok now - it's going to take a while before everything is done anyway so I can't see why not

I will be somewhat open to suggestions on the gfx - but don't expect me to change every little "this and that" once you peeps get a hold of it - That way it'll never get ready.

Yeah, finaly someone with potential....this is great news. All the other "great" skins like MOOW and Sakura never released a beta. What is the harm of releasing a beta public....Here everyone is screaming yeah yeah...I think it is normal....I publish all my beta's on this forum. I'm still learning and by releasing a beta I can only grow with the skinning so..

Hey Rpeter do you need some more ideas for the colour themes....and is it difficult to give each button a different colour....

Vibe

I will be waiting here till it's released so take your time

The next beta will be the public one with more internals to follow. What I have on my system now isn't visually much different than the last beta I sent out. There's a bunch of code changes, but nothing terribly exciting.

Well, i didnt think i'd be able to find a skin that would dispose of MMD3 as my #1, but this thing is pure gorgeous. Infact, i'm willing to kill the next user who posts just for a small glimpse.

I'm a whore for color themes, so, include as many as you possibly can. I don't care if it becomes a 20 megabyte file. Especially if there's a hot Black/Red skin. And i mean real red, none of that red that most of these Winamp Skins have, that look more Pink/Beige then anything.

I'm loving it, keep up the "awesome" work... And bare my children, please.

Thumbs up AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally we will see the power and beauty of this skin. I have been following this since it was 2 pages long till now. Drooling than yesterday hearing that it wouldn't come out for a couple of weeks was like ahhhhh. I mean I wasn't gonna complain but I needed a Fix of INVICTA real bad and only the real deal could hold me off any longer.
Than Sweetness I read the Godly message written by rpc and I jumped up and did a hooray. Bad thing I was at work and my co-workers looked like I had lost it, but that's all cool.
THANKS TONS FOR THE GODLY SKIN RPC AND RAZ

Heh! SNYder, could you please clean yourself up?

I have to agree with razmansix, this collaboration has been going terrific, imo. Seems that we're good at bouncing ideas off each other and coming up with solutions. Go us!

Slight update, I'm making good progress with the mini mode. Got about 3/4 of the XML coded. Then it's onto the MAKI. Oh how I wish I could package a WAC with a skin. I think the coders agree that it is impossible, right?

And of course raz, that is a damn hot screenshot!!

You can't actually package the wac into the skin, that's true. But you could have the skin, on first load, push a browser up and navigate to an installation webpage. The user can choose to install or not....if they don't get the wac you'll have to do some exception handling to make sure that the skin remains mostly functional. I guess it depends a lot on what the wac would be doing. It probably won't be worth the effort unless it does something really cool.

Speaking just for myself, I know I'd download it just to see the full functionality of the skin.

Well, the WAC I had in mind was Russ's VSO. I'd really like to get the analyzers looking exactly like raz's screenshots, which I could do with the WAC, but have had to make changes and sacrifices since some of these effects are just not possible otherwise.

I don't know if it is really worth a seperate download though, we're still working on other visualizations that are going to look hot anyway, so it's probably not worth the hassle.

Russ's VSO wac'll be in the next build of winamp (I don't know, I think). He is a wa3 developer, so he was probably putting it up here so we could get used to it. Am I right?

Nope. He's not employed by Nullsoft, he's only a temp-mod like me and a talented coder. I'm pretty sure there aren't any plans for it to be included. I'll check with him next time I see him online, to be absolutely sure. The Nullsoft team page has all the major NS-paid developers on it, although I think there may be a few guys that have been developing it recently that aren't listed....OTOH, they're also not active forum members so it's a moot point.

But if they aren't going to release it in future builds, what was the point of having it in a skin?

Not sure I follow you. Russ is an independent developer. He wanted to make the VSO. He made it. He released it. That's the point.

Looks amazing, as always. Just a suggestion on the stick mode:
I think the indents on the play/pause, stop, ect. all facing to the left takes away from it. Maybe you could have three pointing left and three pointing right.

about the VSO, you could do like Gonzo said and have it as an optional download, and for the ones who don't download it, it defaults back to the standard vis or something like that, which will ofcourse not look as good...

About the playlist drawer, is that an actual screenshot?
cos if it is, how the hell did you do the semi-transparent background?
Unless you use Darkains PSO wac, it's impossible to have semi-transparent backgrounds on components. as far as I know anyways...

Ah, it's only a mock up, I agree there would have to be some adjustment done there to move the component area onto the solid black. Too bad components are so restrictive at this point.

you have more problems than just the background..
Alpha blending will be turned off every time you open that drawer and then turned on every time you close it.
That means you cant have any alphablended edges at all on the stick-mode if you're gonna have that drawer...

yea, it's a pain in the ass that components are so god damn restrictive in wa3.
I honestly thought that would have changed by now but noooo...

I had an idea for that before I am going to try out. Think of the playlist area more as a seperate syncronized container rather than a drawer in the same layout. Of course the playlist area still won't have alphablending, but at least the stick still will.

that might work, and if the drawer is designed in a specific way, noone will notice any difference between alphablended and not alphablended..
ie: don't have rounded corners, use 45 degree cuts instead, don't smooth edges, etc etc etc...
I coded a skin which looked awesome and alphablended like hell, but didn't use alphablending at all and still looked exactly the same..
so it's possible..
