Ziege: well the movie was actually pretty good considering they had roughly the same budget, but it was intent on being a quick sci fi action flick, maybe a quick dirty trilogy of jack going around nuking things.. thankfully RDA came along and snuck in sg1 and changed the face of gatedom from a small, decent movie to well.. Gatedom

Ohh... Ohh... when you get to the point of color themes make sure you can edit the color of the lights, so there can be Atlantis blue too!

Yea, I don't know about the color themes either but like Foxw said, it shall be discussed..

I'm on dial-up now (haven't been on dial-up in three years! Feel sorry for me!) so I'm not gonna be able to be online as much as before, nor upload as many stuffs as before...

Yea, it means I'm not gonna be able to watch season 8 and Atlantis when I wanted to, which hurts! Oh the pain!
I'm used to a 100mbit connection and now I'm on a 56kbit connection, plus living at my moms place, talk about trading down.. For the love of satan, get me out of here!

Foxw: sure, you think so, but get a 100mbit connection and stay on it for three years and then switch back to 56k and THEN tell me how possible it is to live on a 56k connection. I'm telling you, it's like the internet suddenly ceased to exist. Don't think I've always had a 100mbit connection, nooooo I lived on a 56k connection before my three years of 100mbit, but only for a short period of time, before the 56k, I had only a 36k connection. But once you get used to having like 10/100mbit connection, there's no turning back, it's that or nothing. Even 2mbit (dsl) would seem waaaaay too slow for me, because I've gotten used to certain things a 10/100mbit connection offers/enables and can't really live without those things.

*L* you'll adjust plague.. and your talking to someone who's been around since Punch cards and saw when 14.4 k/sec was considering blazing.

thought to be honest I spent 3 years on one of those (was called college).. then finished college and went back to dialup after that.. sure it took adjusting.. and letting go of somethings. But you make it sound like someong castrated you at the hips..

So you traded the porcha in for a compact. Least it still runs (beats the 6 months i lived in a area without net service at all)

So rechoice you have what you do have dude.. and in the mean time hehe..

here's my latest thought on a standard frame (the things on the sides i'm thinking could be used a draws)

Btw.. Matt.. I said it was possible.. not preferential Lord if i could afford it i'd be on cable.. but as i can bearly afford my dialup charges...I make do

Tempting offer
But one of the reasons I left Skövde was that I barely had any social life over there, so I thought moving back 'home' would solve that problem, maybe it will, maybe it won't, I dunno...
Don't much feel like moving to Denmark, but if I would, I'd take you up on that offer in an instant.

I _will_ work on this skin despite all this, and I'm not _that_ lazy... hehe...

Hey guys, Got a couple things that tie into this whole thing
1. I read this entire topic...looked at the pictures etc. Today (took me about 2 hours...) didnt look at any of the video stuff the reason being why I looked at all this stuff: I am at my moms house on 56k. Man, I feel for you plague, I hate it, just probably not as much because I am going back to my house tonight which has a cable line installed tommorow (We were on DSL but our ISP messed up) So it's not bad, sure, I can't do much, but I can browse these forums..and its the only place I have internet right now (I was a WHOLE WEEK without internet because my old isp messed up)

Anyway, this skin is really good, and if it means anything to MGM, I never watched the show...and after this skin...I am really thinking about it. Feel free to quote me on that to them. I live in Ontario too Good Luck on this, I would download this skin at home in a second. Hope it makes it, it's really nice.

[offtopic]
I'm going to need a skin done for my site... Maybe you talented people could help (Layout for the site is in design, coding for site is in development on my pc at home, I could probably even get the layout design sort of ported to a winamp skin in graphics...I would just need the coding done.

I may even be willing to pay a little if I had some money, I am still looking at server plans though. Anyway, I've ranted a bit too much
[/offtopic]

Death Reaper

Thanks for the comments, glad you like it so far.

Anyways, we still need a water animation for the event horizon. Is noone interested in attempting to make one?

Well, I don't know how good of an animation I would be able to make...I can try tommorow, seeing as I have literally no resources here. That is if you don't have someone already.

if you could use one that's done in XML/VML then I might be able to get something going. Would something like that be able to be rendered in wa5 tho?

Check at the bottom of the last page in this thread for an example of how the water animation should be made..
For the lazy people, here.
Each frame should be 344x344 pixels.
This example uses 8 frames, if you need more, feel free, but preferably not less than 8.

edit:
[stating the obvious]
Oh, and this example is made up of stills from the show.
It's the water we're interested in, so don't bother with the other crap, like the gate and ramp and stuff like that...
[/stating the obvious]

Thanks

SO basically you want each frame a little different then the next frame, in order to create the animation effect...so just put em side by side like that? Shouldn't be hard.

precisely.

Try to make the last frame be able to loop nicely with the first frame, so you'll have an endless loop of flowing water..

Then be around 8pm EST on.. since prior to that is the "net blackout" period. Stupid having to leave phone line clear.

But if it's drastic, you can always email me dude

umm, that's like 2am for me, will be somewhat difficult theese days since I'm on modem aswell and my computer is in my brothers room and he's working weekdays, so yea, you get my point..

I'll try tho, but things like this will undoubtedly delay the release of this skin alot. Not that I personally mind that, but still..

I didn't plan on beeing on modem this summer and if I hadn't it would've been alot easier to get the skin done in time, but now it's completely impossible to even get it done in like a week or so from now.. My guess is that it'll take atleast another two weeks, perhaps more, and if we're unlucky, much more.. Again, not that I personally mind, but still..

Oh well, it's summer, we're not supposed to sit in front of our puters anyways. Get out, have fun, go to the beach and watch girls in bikini, or better yet, topless...
See what a life in front of the computer does to ya!?

Anyways, enuff rambling..

Season 8 maybe there for you but unfortunatly for me I have to wait about a year before I can watch them.
Unless I find them on the net first

I do agree with both of you. Summer is for spending time away from the computer. So I'll post myself and some friend behind an xbox/PS2 and we have some great multiplayer fun .
I'm also going on holiday to Florida(I'm from Belgium) SO that will be my time away from my beloved PC.

I think it looks good, the colors and waves look really kool. Animated would be better for the gate in my opinion. But if it can't be done, so be it.

They both look good but the first will fit better on the hole as it looks more like the effect used in the series.
