Ive used winamp for as long as i can remember, don't hate. Anyone have a similar program that is not old as fuck and offers a similar simplicity?

Hey, I just stumbled onto this forum, and am just amazed by this community and its longevity. So, naturally, a question popped up in my brainbox - what made these people stay here? I mean, I have been using Winamp since I became sentient, but I never really saw what made it so great. Maybe because I didn't have anything to compare it to, or because I didn't explore all of its features fully. Anyway, why do you use winamp? What are the features you love the most?

Still using Winamp for just about everything. There are newer codecs around out like VP9 that I've been unable to make work with Winamp yet since FFDShow only went up to VP8 so for that I use VLC, also a good player. It's excellent for streaming youtube videos. Between those two don't need anything else.

No. I use WinAmp for a very long time. I don't even remember when I started using it. I still like it and don't see any good alternative.

For me, Winamp is the only player that can expertly handle a massive music collection. Back in the day I tried every free player out there and none even came close to rivaling winamp. Fast forward to today, I'm sure there's another player out there that has figured out how to handle large music collections, but as someone else said in this thread, if it ain't broke, why try to fix it?

I'm also glad that Winamp is still maintained. One of the best media player. As good as VLC Media Player.

Actually VLC can play online videos through it. It has tab called "Streaming". If you write youtube vieo URL then it plays that video from the Internet throught itself. And it is very comfortable for mobile devices, because the app has its special derivative for mobiles. And if you play YT video through browser and you close Phone cover then the music stream immediately stops. But with VLC it doesn't. It still plays which is very good. You can travel by bike or early in the morning run long distances with earphones from mobile. Mobile cover is closed to store device energy. But music playback continues Because it has the option to play streaming video just as audio.
So, Winamp also needs such application for smartphones for Android and iOS.

But for all my PC music I use Winamp. Equalizer tones in an extended V-shape. Also pc motherboard sound card is operated by Realtek HD Audio Manager. There I have also increase only 31, 62, 125, 250, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k and 16k tones in a similar extended v-shape.
On 2.0 speakers system (S-30) the sound through double equalizer systems is very specific and good.
