Sort music by rating and alphabetically
Hello,
I would like to get my music in the library sorted by my rating first and then secondary alphabetically. The problem is that whenever I'm sorting it by rating it is automatically sorted secundary by the number of plays. I was looking in the internet for a solution but I couldn't find any. Is there any way you can change that? Thanks for your help ![]() |

Hi nesco,
Winamp does not support secondary sorting. Users have been begging for this for years. Have you tried using a view that lets you remove columns you are not interested in seeing when sorting by ratings? Windows 10 Home 64-bit v21H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Do you have more than one rating? Otherwise (e.g. just 5 stars) you could use the Smart View..
I'm also looking for a more "sophisticated" way to display my music. |

whats been said is mostly true, but here is what winamp does:
in ML, sort your tracks column by artist or album artist. then sort by rating. things will appear jumbled. HOWEVER... add the "play count" column, and you will see that your 5 star stuff is actually ranked by most playcounts. once you get to your 5 star stuff with 0 playcounts, you will see it is in alphabetical order. the only easy way to clear play counts i know of, is to clear the ML and rescan it in from scratch. winamp should, imo, improve this by allowing for "secondary sorting." instead of just up or down arrows for a column, it could allow a user to assign a number denoting priority in the sort. Yes, again, please support multiple column sorting. This is not even added to known issues, faq, or wanted features.
