I always thought if .pls files were associated with WMP, WMP would open the stream ... works like that for me

"If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system"

So I did

not in the new RC. The new WMP will not read them at all.

You got two solutions to this.

1) go to a site like streaming solutions or caster club and use a player generator.

2)

a) open wordpad.
b) paste the following script in.

<ASX VERSION="3.0">

My Stream Title

<REF HREF= "http://(my IP: PORT)" />

</ASX>

you can tell which ones to change obviously.

c) save as (whatever you want to call it).asx

now have someone else stream to the server or send that file to someone else to test it. If it works right, you should be able to use that to launch from your desktop.

d) upload it to your websites directory.

e) Make a hyperlink to it to launch.

One more step, make sure the mime types are correct for .asx files.

The win7 forums told me that .pls is not important to the designers! That of course pisses me off since it is only a small amount more to parse. This is especially so since WMP12 will play aac+v2 streams from SHoutcast servers (not Ice Cast unless they fixed it).

Your mileage may vary!

Should work fine with a DNS name too.

I have tried both codes <ASX VERSION="3.0">

My Stream Title

<REF HREF= "http://(my IP: PORT)" />

</ASX>

and the one with listen.m3u and was not able to play with media player.
