I'm sorry, but I hate Pearl Jam

I hate Pearl Jam. I hate them for one reason and one reason only. I think they suck massive deer testicle when they're not making bad albums.

I've heard six good songs by these guys, and Most of those songs are from thier first Album, Ten. The rest of the albums are crap as far as I'm concerned. I know roughly three pearl jam songs that are any good after the first.

Also, Katowice: Sucked horribly. It was like a toothache. A really bad one. With little army soldiers coming out of the crown and stabbing your tongue. I Know the Song Jeremy pretty well, and yet for some ungodly reason, I couldn't follow any of the lyrics Eddie Vedder was singing. If that's what you call it.

Vedder just seems like he so preoccupied being a "visionary" that he writes bad lyrics and sings in a monotone. Or is that just because "he's too depressed to sing in higher keys" or is it because he can't sing in any octave above his current range? Is it simple lack of talent, or have they gone the way of The Rolling Stones and Metallica, Long-ruined flag wavers that are just too stubborn to give up?

I'll have to agree with you on this one, Fickle. Ten is the only album I have of theirs, never cared too much for the others. And yeah, Eddie... yeah. He's special. In his own mind.

i feel ashamed...

not because i like pearl jam, but because i have mistaken you all for people with good tastes in music :P

im a pretty big pearl jam fan, and every fucking time i admitt it out loud, i have to fend off all these loud voices: "eddie vedder cant sing for shit", "theyr just nirvana hype-glidders" etc etc..

Have any of you guys actually listened to all of vitalogy??? wonderful album. And most of bianaural also.. tho, i'll admit that yeild was pretty poor.

Anyways, im not trying to force anything on you guys, but dont dismiss them so quick. They do have LOTS of good songs, and most of them are not even on the first album. The trouble is that most people recognise them as a grunge/prog rock band because of jeremy and most of Ten.

Also, did you guys all miss vedder and neil finn together on stage, along with phil and ed from radiohead a few years ago? That was a fucking wonderful moment in rock history.

//edit gads.. did i just waste my "major dood" post talking about how good pearl jam are? XP...

oh... yeah,

MAJOR DOOD!!! W00t!!!!!!!!//

I just wasn't impressed with their later stuff, space and sidd. It felt kinda lacking and forced. And I wasn't dissing Eddie's voice, just his persona so to speak.

I dislike the very fibre of Pearl Jam - they're somewhat plain. I think 'unimaginative' is the word. Anyway, ShyShy speaks for me in that department (being a rock specialist from the very home of grunge).

So you're a Major Dude now sidd. Is that worth a toast or not? I don't know..... probably not! I could think of better things to drink to (like successfully plucking a hair from your neck).

I like Pearl Jam...

But then again, the only songs I've heard from them are from "Ten"...Show me something else that's not on that album, and you'll confuse me...

I'm teaching myself how to play "Jeremy" on bass guitar...

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

all right, you asked for it! Here are some truely decent, even above average, pearljam tracks. Only listed ones of post-ten albums.

bugs - from vitalogy, crazy loony song about schizophrenia (or however you spell it). Eddie's not so great voice suits the role perfectly in a very flaming lips fasion.

of the girl - from binaural. moody atmospheric blues tune. Doesnt really lead anywhere, but lasts for a good 5 minutes.

tremor christ - from vitalogy again, a good example of a very good, standard pearl jam track.

wishlist - From Yeild, very soothing indy sounding track. Was a single, and youll probably recognise it.

immortality - another standard pearl jam track. Nothing unique, just a really cool song.

rival - very dark and scratchy sounding track. Really coooool.

i go to work now..

You know, space, I did like the work Neil Young and Pearl Jam did together come to think of it. Neil's the original grunge meister!

Cool, I'm glad your son liked his cards! I was kinda worried that he'd delete it since he wouldn't recognize who it was from.

I'm not convinced either. If only they could change their name and get a new singer....

hey now..... Ten is Pearl Jam's worst album. Its a good album, but its their worst. The problem being they are expected to sound like they did on Ten. When they started toward a different sound ( which really started with vs.) they, apparently lost alot of fans. Which i guess doesnt really matter because they seem to be in a pretty good place right now and i foresee pearl jam being together for a long time. Anyway i can vouch for Mirrorball too. It pretty good (interesting note i believe the whole album was written and recorded inside the scope of 3 days).

also check out hail, hail

I always have a problem with taking advice from people who are "Diehard fans" of any band. All of a sudden, everything is compared to [said band] and it just gets annoying.
I have yet to listen to those songs, but I liked Ten, they should have at least kept some elements (except the whining, that could--no should have gone).
