Definatly a possibility.

It's hard to hear a lot of old stuff unless you go listening too. Add in that just about looking for it. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a classic rock station in your corner or the world (I am ), it can be difficult to find out what earlier bands are worth listening too. Add in that just about everybody has different tastes and you have a heaping pile of music to sort through and find something you like.

But for the younger people like me, we have the advantage of time. The scenes literally play out before our eyes so we don't have to do research and listen to a decades worth of hits to find something we like.

Another reason might be that classics become forgotten. One-hit-wonders and second class fade away into obscurity never to be heard of again.

Then, there is the classic teenage-angst-rebellion argument that usually amounts to |f it b3 0ld3r tehn m3, it b3 teh su><0r.

Edit:
I'm 18, 60's, 70's, 80's

Of course, it would be impossible to tell for sure with out asking the age and vote from everyone that participated...

The best ten year period is 1965-1975.

Why?
Decadent synthetic disco-pop? Pathetic Hair-Metal?

The 80's weren't a very bluesy decade. I always preferred rock n roll, which thrived.
