Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) is the best song EVER. Apart from that they're an okay band.

They're alright. Dookie is a cool album

I like Green Day in their own way. It's got a real punk sound to it - much like the old Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys kinda time period but more refined and usually quite upbeat. Enjoyable music on the right day but not something I have in the everyday music collection.

I like Green Day quite a bit. They get alot of respect because to me they age gracefully. Just listen to thier old vs their new shit, completely different yet very good for different reasons. That said I do prefer the Dookie/Insomniac era Green Day. Warning has some awesome songs though.

I don't like 'em that much.

Compared with Dead Kennedys or Minor Threat they sound quite tame to me.

And I don't think they're more refined than, say, Buzzcocks or Wipers either.

Inspired by this thread i listened trough their album "Warning" I've had for a long time, and I still seemed to like it, although I'm not a big fan of any sort of punk.

I like alot of Mike Durnt's basslines...

I like American Idiot, simply because of it's politics.

Also, Green Day I've always liked a bit more than your average joe blow, but I don't think they are the greatest.

The singer's voice annoys me. I used to think they were average but now I really don't like them. The music is bland and uninteresting, the lyrics are dull and the singing is monotonous and repetetive.

It's not so much that typical "punk" band voice...

Maybe that, but also in the repetative and redundant use of 3 powerchords throughout a 3-minute song...That kind of guitar playing really irks me...

"3 powerchords throughout a 3-minute song" thats the pop-punk formula, along with 3 band members and 3 singles on an album, it's all about the 3's in pop-punk. Also if you haven't brought American Idiot and are planning to, buy the special edition, the album will make more sense to you.
