Disable automatic detection of USB-Sticks, external HDD, etc.

Hello everybody,

tried out the current WinAMP and decided to check if I like the library-function of winamp is by now to my liking (I have rather a tendency to prefer ... simple tools, that do few things but do them well, as they - in most cases - least force me to do things the way the developer does. I'm kind of an oddball in that regard).

Well, I guess it is ok.
Makes switching Playlists a bit faster.
I can live with that.

What greatly annoys me now, however, is that whenever I plug in external storage of any kind via USB (even my EBook-Reader for christ's sake!) it asks me whether I want to check it for any and all music there which might make a nice addition to my Library (which barely holds my playlists and little else so far. I do like to take things slowly, step by step and all that). I've searched all the options-menus I could find, tried several internet searches (Google, bing, Winamp help, winamp Forum, ...) and am still left with that bug (not a programm bug - a feature that "bugs" me ).

Anybody out there willing and able to help me with that?

Thanks in advance,
Bosparan

System: Windows 7 x64 Professional

Out of Curiosity:

Am I being ignored because I violated some rule, because nobody understood what my problem was or because simply nobody has an idea how to help me with my problem?
(After all, if it is because of a mistake of mine I do not wish to repeat it)

preferences -> plug-ins -> portables -> select the usb plug-in and either choose uninstall if you definitely don't want to have Winamp do anything with the USB drives or you can choose configure and then blacklist drives as applicable (does require them to be present to show in the list).

as for no reply, i'd missed it and there's never a guarantee anyone will reply so it's not just you

Thx

Great thanks! I found that but didn't dare to click uninstall to the plugin Now uninstalled and happy to not get any popups anymore. (the popups even tended to crash winamp because I would have already removed the drive before bothering with the popup)

Signed up just to say Thank You! I've ignored this feature for the longest time and today's patience was a little short. Much appreciated!

Thank you for this info.
WinAmp ought to make this setting a little easier to find, or put this info in their FAQ.

Winamp has so many options that making them all easy to find is impossible. The Preferences Guide that was available when AOL was the owner includes info on this and most of the other options. Hopefully Radionomy will have it updated and re-released soon.
