pop up of song artist and title

On previous versions of Winamp, in a box in the lower right hand corner of your screen, the artist and name of their song would appear for a few seconds. This was very helpful and "cool." With the version 5, this box does not appear. Is there a setting to fix this?

That's never been a default feature in Winamp 2.x or Winamp3.
So, unless you were using a 3rd-party plugin, I'm not sure what you meant by
"On previous versions of Winamp".

Winamp 5.x's default Winamp Modern skin has a Notification feature.
Main window -> Config tray -> Options -> Notifications...
(also accessible via: main menu -> Options -> Winamp Modern)

Some other new 3rd-party skins are now adopting this feature as well, but not all/many.
