Avoiding " Are you sure you want to install this winmp skin?"

Hello !

I am constanty plagued with this annoying window when I want to install one of the skins I have in my skin folder: Are you sure you want to intall this Winamp skin? We recommend....etc etc.

Is there a way to permanently cancel this warning??

there isn't and that was purposefully added about 9-10years ago as part of the changes that had to be made as part of skin loading vulnerability fixes. I guess there is merit in having an opt out option for it though is better to be safe by default as it does at the moment.

The message woudn't be normal if you were just choosing a skin from within Winamp (Right click > Skins or Preferences Window), but I guess is not your case..

But like DrO says, it would be good to have some sort of "don't ask/warn me again" to tick for "advanced users"..

I'm really sorry to hear that there's no real solution... it's a little bit like when, in IE, I had a window that would say that only the safe content was displayed, or another one that would say images were not displayed... in that case, I found out that I just had to go to "Tools" & uncheck a few boxes...
Beeing safe by default isn't always the best choice !

you can blame the people who were doing bad things with skins at the time to cause it (which was a very rushed thing since there was basically no dev team at the time from what i remember).

i understand you're comment about not liking it, but installing skins (and doing it almost continuously as your first post implies) is far from the normal user behaviour in that most users nowadays will never have seen that prompt.

either way, i've noted it so will have to see if anything is done about it.
