HTTPS URLs in M3U files?

Is there any way to get playlist entries with HTTPS links to work in Winamp? As far as I can tell Winamp simply fails to make a connection at all.

This works:

This fails, eventually timing out. I watch at the server end and there's no sign of a connection attempt:

This is with Winamp 5.666.
