Note, this is an old thread revived from 6 years ago,
which relates to some ancient version of Winamp... __________________________________________________________ I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, maybe if you gave an example ? Anyway, goto: Prefs -> Input -> MPEG Audio plugin -> Configure -> Title tab. ID3 Title Formatting: Default = %1 - %2 {ID3 Artist + Title} You can use this format, but will need to edit the ID3 tag for each file to suit your preferred taste. To do this, hi-lite each individual track in the Playlist Editor, rt. click -> select: File Info (Hotkey = Alt + 3) However, you probably want to change Title Formatting to something like: %7.%9 This will make the Playlist display the Filename & Extension only, eg. file.mp3 Or maybe you want to totally disable the display of ID3 Tags? In which case, uncheck "Use ID3 Tags" This will then force Winamp to just display the ordinary title formatting. Default value = %7 (filename only) You can also change this to: %7.%9 All available parameters are listed in the plugin's config You can then goto : Playlist Ed -> Misc Opt button -> Sort -> Sort list by filename. If for some reason you're still not happy, you may even want to goto : Prefs -> Options Checkmark "Sort Files" & "Read Titles" on Load !?!? Hope this helps !?!? ------- DJ-Egg |

display filename not ID3 info
Hello,
This was an old (very old - from 2000!) post, but is the same issue I'm looking to solve. If DJEgg not around, can someone else suggest an answer? I followed the instructions below, but Prefs -> Input -> MPEG Audio plugin -> Configure -> Title tab. is not available per se... I've got: Prefs -> Plug-ins -> Input -> ... then the closest is MPEG Audio Decoder The Configure button doesn't give me the %7.%9 mentioned below, which I believe is exactly what I need. I'm basically trying to get the filename being played in winamp from another program. As it is now, the best I can do is get ID3 info, which is what is shown in the title window. Thanks in advance for any suggestions... |

Yes, this is a very old thread indeed.
Winamp 5.24 > Prefs > Titles Make sure "use advance title formatting" is checkmarked. To show filename only, change the ATF string to: $filepart(%filename%) |

Egg...
I'm pretty bad with figuring out ATF syntax myself. Lately, I've been organizing my music according to albums. Until now, I've been using the default settings. I did however figure out how to include the album with the artist and title, like so... Say I have a file named this exactly... Coldplay - Clocks.mp3 and I use this ATF string... [%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))[ - %album%] It will display like so... Coldplay - Clocks - A Rush Of Blood To The Head That's okay right now, and I'm using that format. Insofar as using what you showed to eddievh above, just having the filename display, it would display like so... Coldplay - Clocks Out of curiosity, how would you also include the .xxx extension, so that it displays like so... Coldplay - Clocks.mp3 If I use this... $filepart(%filename%)$fileext(%filename%) It will append the extension, but without the 'dot', like so... Coldplay - Clocksmp3 So, how would I get that 'dot' seperator in there? |

Playlist format
After all the years of using Winamp, the format for changing the filename is still a Pain. Make it a GUI With a preview window, not because it is hard, but because it should take 2 seconds not a minute to show the filename and omit the jumbled mp3 tag.
