Winamp suddenly crashing

Hi there.

The other week my old pc overheated and shut itself down and my Winamp database got corrupted. This has happened before but usually is fixed by simply re-scanning the music the only problem is everytime I try to do this it crashes.

I have since bought a new computer and the same problem is happening although it seems to be only occurring with one folder (I have multiple). I've downloaded a program called mp3 checker and took all the so called bad files out of the folder to see if that would stop it crashing but it still does. It's a large folder about 9,843 files, 50.2 GB in size but this has never been a problem.

As I've never had any issues before I'm unsure what the issue is, how to generate logs etc.

It seems, You have installed Winamp 5.666 Build 3516, and it's a known bug. You have to replace in_mp3.dll by the in_mp3.dll from the previous Build 3512...

Replacing this .dll will fix Your problems...

Thanks. Working fine now. Was sick of having to use the far inferior windows media player

just fyi, u can also use the free mp3val and search the forums for winamp backup tool.

though that's really not needed when it's clearly noted as a bug with in_mp3 in that specific client build. if it happened with the build 3512 version of in_mp3 or another client version then yes, those tools might have some merit in being used, but not with a build 3516 install with it's native in_mp3 version.
