YP acting funny/broken at the moment.
Did someone break the YP? Some funny IPs for directory tester too (least I ain't ever seen 'em before today.) Other computers over the internet can still connect and listen just fine so I know it's not a nak/port-forward/cache error. I even tried resetting my modem/router.
I turned off my radio station for server maintenance and defrags and what-have-you this morning. When I went to start it back up I got these strange errors. I did not make any changes to any configuration anywhere. Just the simple maintenance I usually perform. The YP seems confused. Logs for 96k stream: code: Logs for 56k stream: code: Anybody know what's going on? |

As of 06/09/2010 1:00pm PDT this problem still persists. Does anybody have an ETA as to when it will be resolved or is it still too early to tell?

As of June 10, 2010 at approx. 11:05 AM PDT something different finally happened.
![]() This morning at around 8 am I downloaded the sc_serv2 beta drop, did a quick config, and ran it out-of-the box. I still got the same result until the aforementioned time. At first my mp3 56k stream seemed to go through but not my mp3 96k. I then realized the only difference between the two (other than the bitrate) was I was already listening to the 96k stream at work. So I disconnected and reset the source connection, and it looked like it went through according to the screen log. Waiting to see if it shows up on the YP. [EDIT] Hit the reply button too soon. Both streams are now showing up on the YP. [/EDIT] |

I think I may have a definitive answer for the recent YP trouble, at least on my end: firewalls and the new YP2 push.
Apparently the new [SHOUTcast Directory Tester] is very temperamental and doesn't like Sygate Personal Firewall Pro most of the time. After much experimenting with the firewall the only way I could get either the old sc_serv or the very BETA sc_serv2 to be listed was to temporarily disable the firewall while [SHOUTcast Directory Tester] was testing the server. After that's done and the YP [ack]s and says I'm added I turned the firewall back on and everything returns to normal. Earlier today when I tried to get back on the YP and was partially listed was probably due to some kind of delay between firewall configuration changes and actual firewall behavior right after the changes. It's not the old sc_serv. It's the new YP2 and the temperamental server tester. Probably the reason why I never saw this until recently was because I hadn't restarted sc_serv for a while. Right now I'm back running the old sc_serv SHOUTcast Server Version 1.9.8/win32. I hope this information helps some people on the SHOUTcast development team and others. |

Thanks Tink,
Hopefully this will get resolved. Many people are using host stream providers and don't have access to the firewalls to do this. I'm sure if this is the case the providers will be working towards getting this resolved since, as soon as the servers are rebooted their networks will not be on the YP |

This is still an issue. I still have to drop my pants before the station gets listed. It all worked perfectly fine before with the firewall fully enabled before the new YP2 I swear to gawd.
Is anybody on the SC Devel. team looking at it? |

the YP listing has had it's problems over the years and it always was fixed. just wait , there isn't much more you can do. PS. Depending only on the free YP listing on shoutcast.com isn't the best way to get your station know. Search engines and a more than decent website can do much more for you. |

Don't underestimate the power of the YP listing. Since we got delisted from the YP (which seemed to coincide with when they dumped Shoutcast Classic), we lost over half our listeners.
Obviously stations come and go all the time, so I'm assuming the people who listened to us through the YPs just assume the unlisted stations died and they moved on. It really is a problem. They really need to get this fixed fast. They're screwing a lot of us little guys. |

It's now gotten much much much much much much worse. The following log entries only happened once-in-a-while. Now it's all the time:

Im getting this too. Its worth noting that at no point did the servers disconnect (eg, they were constantly streaming audio without dropping source). This is not a port issue as my shoutcast ports are open in IPTables, as the couple of hundred users can listen in as well as live DJs can connect.
