Flac files over 5000kbps

Winamp 5.666 built 3516 under W7 Ultimate. Problems experienced to reproduce flac files with 5000kbps or more. No problems with files under 3500kbps and also no problems reproducing the 5000kbps plus files with Windows Media Player. This problem appeared first with Winamp 5.65. With 5.552 it was OK.
Problem is: sound is frequently interrupted while reproducing causing an unpleasant sensation. It looks like a bandwidth limitation.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by "sound is frequently interrupted".
Do you mean stuttering/choppy playback?

There's some sample 96KHz/24bit 5.1 surround FLAC files (approx 6000 kbps) available here

The files all play ok for me.
The only possible issue I might be seeing/hearing is that I can't seem to hear some of the music...?

e.g. Compare the 5.1 surround FLAC version with the standard mp3 stereo version

In the FLAC version, I can't seem to hear the beats which come in at around 7:20 in the mp3 version.
Maybe it's just a different mix of the same track though....?
Or maybe it's something to do with my speaker setup? Hmmm.....

Even weirder... when I let Firefox open/play the mp3 stream directly, I can't hear the beats at 7mins+ either.
Only Winamp seems to pick them up.
The plot thickens, lol.

The sample file You suggested sounds OK but my files still have problems. As an Example, this is one of the files:

Ahh, 192KHz... I don't have any of those, just 96KHz/24bit, 5.1ch
Will have to look around and see if I can acquire/create one of those....

the issue here is probably lack of proper support for 192khz, but as I point out in the thread above, when you deal with differing formats at strange, non-mainstream specs, u get weird results. (my files are more weird than 192 ones, which are fairly common in audiophile/surround circles).

I wish I knew enough to delve into this deeper.
