FLAC and Folder View
I have Winamp for Android 1.4.8. I have loaded several FLAC files onto my micro-sd card and inserted it into my Asus Transformer (Jellybean).
Winamp's FAQs state that FLAC files are playable only from "Folder View." I can play them that way, but I can also access and play them from normal "Album" and "Artist" view. So what's up with that? Are FLAC files that are played outside of "Folder View" transcoded into mp3 or something and only played in true FLAC lossless from folders? Or is the info that they can only be played in "Folder Veiw" outdated? |

Hi
It depends on whether the device has native FLAC support or not. Many newer Android devices have native support these days, whereas older ones didn't. On devices with no native support, FLAC is only playable via the Folders feature from Pro. |

Thanks DJ, yeah my Asus does have native FLAC support (in fact I think all Android after 3.1 do have that support). Winamp probably ought to make that more clear as a selling point because playing those files from the regular "Artist" and "Album" windows is a whole lot more user friendly.
Appreciate the reply. |
