Yeah followed by one boy band song by you, and 80's pop from everyone else.

I could never own a compilation that included a boy-band.

I'd rather fall on my sword.

Oh..I would never say to ignore alola...I simpley meant that rather then jumping on her and putting down her opinion..just don't say anything. Or at least put it in a nicer way..

Everyone has made their points on the subject..why keep repeating what you think about it.

Ok... apola's starting to tone down the boy-band references in other sections, either accept her peace offering in that regards or ignore her. Simple. Easy. Done. Don't fucking make me post a Barney pic in this thread.

no please spare us have some mercy

think you have seen my post about 3 posts up jess quoted it. I'm responding to her questions just like i would to any of yours.
you are right about apola, and like I said before she starts to make some good posts here and in other parts of the forum.

it only took some time, like it did with taylor ( going by the things i heard about him).
anyway, I do respect other peoples opinion about a subject, even boy bands, but that still doesn't mean i have to like the music they perform.

My post was meant to the general populace, spaceplay Not anyone in particular.

Musical opinions can get quite heated. But unlike other opinions, musical ones can be influenced by good-natured debates and being open minded. I wouldn't be listening to some of the groups that I do now if it weren't for this forum. Being bull-headed about a particular genre (for or against) will get no one anywhere.

Hmm... would it make everybody feel better if I admitted (although I know I've already had) to liking some Country music? I know it's a favorite to bash and I blame it on living in the South for some eight plus years

John Denver is a bit too "hippie" for me, the man was a blazin' toker. But then again... so were the Beatles

Everytime I think of John Denver I get the image on my head of Pauly Shore in the Son and Law, driving through the corn field...

*had a need to share that* *doesn't know why*

I'm big on the country music from the 90's.....the past few years it kinda went down hill. I miss the Clay Walker, Bryan White, Sawyer Brown Days...but that's just me.

Hehehehe... that was a great reference, Jess. Ooooo... reminds me to post that movie in that thread...

I know what you mean about that time period of country, I believe around the early to mid '90s? Good stuff then. I don't think I've gotten anything newer than that in my playlist.

Me neither.....it's all pre-1997 stuff.

Country songs lost a lot of heart the past few years I think. It became so mainstream and it ruined it. I must say though...I can think of two artists that hold up today as having substance...Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. Really those two are the only ones that I even like at all anymore.....Joe Nicholes isn't too bad either. Most of the females think they are Britney Spears (Shania!) and it has messed it all up......I can handle Sara Evans though. She has talent.

Emmylou Harris and Johhny Cash are the only country artists I listen to and I wounldn't count them as country any more. I think they fit neatly into the Americana section, which must be a relief to them.

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

My mp3 player finally came.

When no-one was in the house.

In my first marriage, I ONLY would listen to country music. My sounds-of-choice were Suzy Bogguss, Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, The Kentucky Headhunters, Reba McIntyre, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakim, Alabama, and a few others.

Since then, I took Suzy and Pam, and more recently adopted Shania and LeAnn, and left the rest behind.

**Side note: Before Shania Twain was close to being a star, she walked into my family's print shop to have promo posters and business cards done. I was standing behind the counter and had no idea that she would be famous one day. Still got her signature on an invoice somewhere...)**

The only thing that really bothers me is people who cry that LeAnn Rimes was too commercialized. I'm sure she may have been, but you're talking to someone who has never seen her in a TV commercial, or heard any of her music in any kind of commercial. I don't know where she was "used", so I'm just guessing. So to me, she's not the least bit commercialized. But anyway, I bang my chest and run to LeAnn's defense whenever she's accused of being a "sell out". One of my life's dreams is to one day have her sing to me at my birthday party.

While you're studying...

EAC --> background extract, encode (LAME MP3) and tag --> batch MP3Gain --> done.

Just a few clicks of the mouse. You could study while they rip and encode automatically, and then be listening to them in within a few minutes.

Just an idea. (I'd hate to think you have to go without listening to your new music. )

I do ID3v1, ID3v2 and FLAC tags on all my stuff. Seven tag fields with each: title, artist, album, year, track(number), genre and comment (encoding info). I haven't needed to do it batch, though, luckily. I do each album after encoding.
