There just isn't enough room in the your reply part to tell why a song is my favourite.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

Mine changes every so often.

Currently: Nightwish - Romanticide
Just a well-composed song. The lyrics are dodgy in some parts (lol, Finland). Plus, her voice is just orgasmic in this particular composition.

If you like that, have a listen to Daz Dillinger - My system. That'll give any sub a thorough workout, and it drops lower than late night tip.

Wow you were right. That song hits really low. I blew my amp so I have one of my subs hooked up to my computer through a receiver and people could hear it outside.

Rozz Williams - Flowers

Real pretty, and sad song off of the Dream Home Heartache album :')

Gackt - Kono Daremo Inai Heya De

Real pretty Japanese song, even the english translation I read was very pretty. Almost brings a tear to my eyes Off of the Seventh Night unplugged album.

Christian Death/Sarah Brightman versions - Gloomy Sunday

This is an old song. There was a Christian Death cover in 1986 with Gitane Demone's beautiful vocals on the Atrocities album. There is also a real pretty live version with Sarah Brightman.

Leslie Cheung - Love Like Magic

Really nice song with Cantonese and english lyrics. Although I like Leslie Cheung better as a Hong Kong actor, he started I believe in music, and has a really nice voice.

I could name many more Rozz Williams and Gackt songs. I like anything that sounds original, and has tugs at the heart.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Requiem (the Filth) (classical+rock) - the entire album is great.

John Williams - Duel Of The Fates (symphony) - perfection

Genesis - Tonight - this thread needs more Genesis

Jesus loves you [yes, you] so much, he even died for you so that you will not need to die, but live forever

Why: It is the best fucking set any DJ has dropped live. It has set the post 90's standard for hard house. It came from one of the most technically competent DJ's in the world.

Dogs
by Pink Floyd, track 2 from the album Animals, released in 1977

The song opens on a gentle breeze with a quietly strumming acoustic guitar fading in slowly. The strumming of the guitar perfectly matches the natural rhythm of my soul. In fact, this is the only song in the world that does. The guitar continues with a light keyboard accompaniment, tone changing every few moments - warm, mystical, like going to a place you've never been. But I know the place well because I've been here many times.

David begins to sing with angst in his voice about a man who wants it all, and who ignores the dangers which frequent his path. He is ambitious and excited, and fully content that his choices are right. Wonderful gains seemingly await this unwary man.

Scruples were never long for him, so in this world he should be happy. He knows that trust can bring vast gain at the pittance cost of another person's existence, and the temptation is irresistible. It's what he's wanted his entire life. The song responds by raising the melody up to a peak, with bright guitars and eager drums keeping a fast tempo, celebrating his chance at success. He'd give anything for it.

Being gradually beset by paranoia does nothing to dissuade his fast track. After his predatory career winds down, he finds initial solace in a sunny retirement, until the real price of his exploits are collected. The song cries out the despair of his cancer with a regret he's never known before. All he really wishes for is a chance to start over and do it differently. He'd give anything for it.

But alas, he's reaping what he's sown. At it's end, when there's no time to change it, he can see his life clearly and it pains him more than the cancer.

Just a few short measures later, the song lifts back up, but this it's time looking upon his broken life with a sarcastic smile. People told him so, but he never listened. The "impressiveness" he once needed to succeed now slowly crushes him. The dogs are all around him now as he realizes, briefly, that he may one of them. But no, this can't be. He sees only truth, or so he thinks.

The song becomes hopeful again as he gradually deludes himself into thinking that he has only done the same things that everyone else does to get ahead in the world. That all of his actions were required rather than chosen. The only way he's ever known to make progress was by exploit. The song tries to maintain the same lightness that it had at the beginning, but it's not quite the same - there's something hidden...the truth. An entity that cannot be exploited without cost or ignored without suffering. It will always collect its due premium, and his time has come to pay. His life's work seems to be paraded before him in the harsh, new light of truth. He still wears his rose glasses to brighten his life, but they do him injustice by blinding him to this truth. At his very end he will still acknowledge no difference between what he sees and what is real, even though he knows well otherwise.

He thinks this difference is his darkness, to hide and deny, but it's actually his light if he would see it unfettered. Though his life is over, at least his past could be forgiven with true understanding. But even that is too much to expect from this man who has never known the rewards of benevolence, and who was never taught that what comes around goes around. He thinks his sheer strength of will can save him. He'll just make everything match his perceptions. But, just as they did before, his desires cloud his way and he soon realizes that what he covets is out of his reach. Truth will not bend for him. And of course he blames everything but himself: Heartless bosses. His oppressed childhood. Friends who were never really friends. Everything he ever wanted was cut short by the cruelty of others conspiring against him. But his real failing, the one that eluded him his entire life, was moral compromise - a stone that drags down anyone who dares to pick it up.

Dogs is a song about the price of greed. It's a cautionary tale that describes what my life might have been like if I had ever taken the road of temptation as did the character in this song. It reminds me that we often try to avoid unfavorable perceptions by either ignoring truth or by "shaping" it as we desire. We change how we think of ourselves, rationalize our actions, compromise our morals, maximize our profits, all in the interest of what is actually one of the greatest modern failings of humanity: the desire for success regardless of cost.

A man can be good or he can be impressive, but rarely can he be both.

My favorite song of all time has to be The Beatles - "Hey Jude" for ...

The reason why is a bit embarrassing so perhaps I should not get into that But let's just say I found it to be very moving when I was 18 (many years ago) and because of that, it is still my favorite song of all time.

my favorite song is whatever has everyone on the dance floor jumping at a party that I'm DJing at. Which means at any one time, I could have something like 100 favorite songs.

Led Zeppelin's Since I've Been Loving You
This mix of beautiful romantic jazzy, bluesy, and some Led Zep's secret ingredient makes this song awesome; & the magnificant guitar solos of Jimmy Page just blow the whole song, nonono, the whole band to the top of the rock 'n roll world !

But hey, Danko Jones is alright ;p

i am blessed with a live soundtrack to my life. everywhere i go or when i switch on the radio, there are songs played to describe the situations i am in.
but if i have to choose one favorite, it is Space Oddity by David Bowie.
It reminds me not to totally spin away in my daydreams and introspective thoughts. i can't help, if i was asked how i feel, i can only answer in music tracks (right now i'm feeling like Korn's 'Freak on a leash' )

edit:
@ScorLibran: 's and thanks a lot
@antimad: chin up, you need some Neil Diamond and/or The Carpenters
