Win XP boot trouble!!!
Can anyone help me please? My computer has decided to go on a continous circle of trying to load Windows. I keep getting an ATP Boot Disk error and then the screen goes black only to try again.
I was only trying to format my hard drive but now I'm screwed, can anyone help me here? I want to completley erase my hard drive, can I use Win Me or do I have to find a copy of Windows 98..........will Windows 95 work ??? Does anyone know what I can do know? I'll keep my fingers crossed (waiting at the neighbours) |

You will firstly need to create a windows boot disk from 98. This allows you to load basic DOS drivers that allow you to start formatting the computer, and then install windiows.

Ok OK OK! I've got the windows ME installed because I didn't have the option of using 98. So now when I go into MS Dos Prompt and type "format c:" the computer tells me that C: is in the process of formatting something else??? Now what?

Pop in the XP disc. There is an option either to upgrade (not recommended), or to do a fresh installation. Select the latter, then follow the steps provided. It's a piece of cake.

You dont need to buy WIN98, all you need is the boot disk. Just get it from a friend. WIN95 Boot disk will work too. Just Format, Partition C, and then run the bootdisk and load E:setup from your XP CD or whichever.
