Skins not working in windows 7
When I download a skin, and activate it, nothing happens. It acts like the skin is activated (check mark next to it) but I still get the same classic look. I can't even use the winamp modern skin.
Is this a bug, or is there a remedy? |

Found the solution myself. You have to choose "modern skin support" when installing.

On the "Choose Components" page of the installer > User Interface Extensions > Modern Skin Support It should be checkmarked by default, so if it's unchecked, then this means that you must've unchecked it yourself at some point.... |

..it is still the same!! I tried twice (once, uninstalled and once re-write) re-installing Winamp making sure that "Modern Skin Support" is well checked. But, the same thing! Its quite weird. Its been years using Winamp, but never saw anything like this before

I just had the same problem. The Fix is this
Go to the skins folder it's normally in c:\program files(x86)\winamp right click on the skins folder, choose PROPERTIES Click on the Security Tab A Permissions window will open Click "Edit" Go to your user name and any other that uses Winamp and click FULL CONTROL Click Apply and then install the skin. It worked for me, got my FX21 Evo skin back, those old ones are just not good enough, I was about to look for a new player. This is something Winamp should have fixed already, it looks like an old problem. |

FYI
Changing permissions is a way to get older non-compatible stuff to work. But it should be used with care and only for things you trust, as a temporary fix. This opens the back door for malware and other bad things to get in your system. It is safer to install non-compatible stuff under Administrator mode. Then run Winamp temporarily in Administrator mode to set it up or change settings. Just saying. ![]() Windows 10 Home 64-bit v20H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Haha
![]() ClassicPro© v2.01 : This plugin allows you to use cPro skins in Winamp. ClassicPro skins are all SUI skins and loads very quickly. ClassicPro skins is even easier to skin than Winamp Classic skins. A new layout have been added since version 2. |
