moving files
when I move alot of files around in the folder that I have enqueued into winamp then it tries to update the list or something and freezes up though it's usually only when I move about 20 or more though for anybody that has a big mp3 collection this could be a problem if they wanted to sort their files while listening to them

System Tray Bug
Sometimes (not always) after minimizing Winamp to the system tray, the main winamp window (sometimes winamp all together) will not reappear.
Winamp 5 Beta 2 128mb RAM, Intel Celeron 700mhz Windows Me Steps to reproduce: Minimize to system tray. Double click Winamp Icon. |

Here's a nice bug, I've reported this since Beta2 and still UNFIXED in latest internal beta.
Switch Winamp to Classic Skin. Turn on EQ and PL. Minimize Winamp to taskbar. Right-click Winamp button, close Winamp. Restart Winamp. Main Window and EQ window is missing, until you right-click Winamp's button on taskbar and select Restore. |

...and make sure you report it correctly
![]() The bug there is actually that the pledit and video windows are visible, when infact, if winamp is closed when minimized, then it should still be minimized when reopened (all windows). |

Not a bug, as such, just not enough visible spaces to display the extra digit.
Time remaining: -XXX:X(X) The (X) at the end can actually be seen just behind the kbps/stereo markers. I guess it could be fixed by moving over everything inbetween time display and beat detector a few spaces to the right . . . which would be ok in large scale or stretched mode . . . but for default or smaller scale sizes, then everything after time display (including built-in analyzer/oscilloscope) would need moving over a bit. Not sure if there's enough available space to do that though... |

well, it's the Default skin after all, shouldn't it be working a little better in areas like that?
And I've wished for this in the wishlist since like beta 1, aswell as getting rid of the Mono/Stereo images and making it a textline instead, since there are alot of media nowadays that have more than 2 channels.. Winamp is supposed to be a full featured media player theese days, so why not act like it too? -Plague |

If you have more than five digits in the track length display it cuts off the end of the text.

Title Formatting Bug
When I disable title formatting, winamp should revert to the input plugin for the title formatting, right? It does this, but only partially. When i load my files, it formats the titles as the default advanced style even though i have that disabled. When the file is played it changes the title to the format style I denoted in the plugin. Changing the settings for when titles are read has no effect.

Noise being sent to DSP
I decided to try out WA5b2 and over the last 18 hours have made this startling discovery. While I have not noticed any of the cosmetic bugs that have been mentioned so far, I did notice today that there seems to be some noise being send to the DSP plugs. This noise is only noticable at low or no volume from the source material.
I am using the exact same plug set from WA2 for this test. I hope that the team plans to do some serious audio testing to this before it goes out. If this one sneaks through, I'm afraid I'll still have to stick with 2.xx ![]() ![]() I'd be happy to demonstrate. Contact me and we'll set up IM and I'll stream you a test so you can hear for yourselves if you cannot reproduce it there. Thanks! |

Winamp5 bug
I'm not sure if there is a place for this, but I have winamp5 beta 2, and I ran into a problem. If I put any other window on top of wa5, I have to minimize those windows to get it back, because there isn't a window spot in my taskbar. Yes, maybe I could check the "Always on top", but I don't want to do that. Also, when I try to minimize it, since it doesn't appear in the taskbar, I have no way to get it back besides double clicking a song, or end process and opening again. I use Windows XP btw. Hopefully this helps. I love winamp5 and I hope you continue to work and improve on it.

@WhiteRayven
I have the same mobo/sound and the same problem. Try turning off the equalizer; it seems to clear the buzz/whine right up for me. |

Not sure if it's a bug, but sometimes when I switch to Now playing in the library it shows the meassage (I don't remember exactly):"Time to upgrade your software...". First I thought Winamp 5 was out, but I see it's still not.

if you hold the mouse to resize a window at it's edges (for example the bottom end of the playlist window), move the mouse (but DON'T RELEASE THE BUTTON) and then press windows key, winamp will hang... it plays the current track until the end, but won't respond to input and stop after the song has finished playing... you need to kick it via task manager and restart it, there's no other way to get it back into 'life'

Bug report 544491X
Winamp 5.0 beta2 10/23/03
Processor: P4 2.4gb 400FSB Ram: Two 512mb Corsair XMS Video: Geforce FX 5200 Ultra Motherboard: SY-P4I865PE Plus DRAGON 2 OS: Windows XP Sp1 Bug: The Playlist doesn't start minimized like "Main Window" and "EQ" this is using the old Winamp2 skins. I can still use all the windows, just when starting it minimized "the way I like it" so it runs in the background, the playlist keeps on coming up when I start it, so I have to open the main window and minimize all of it again. My playlist has 449 files on it and a total running time of 33:41:56. Bug: I have 2 kinds of files on my playlist. (still wonder if its really a bug) anyway, when I play my MP3's winamp uses all 4 speakers, but then playing WMA files they only play on my 2 main speakers. I'm using DirectSound output v2.2.8 |

1. Known bug
I've reported it twice, but it's still not fixed. ![]() (note, video window is also affected) I'm adding this to known bugs thread. 2. Not a bug See here: TSGH -> Multiple Speaker Output |

If not that will probably fix the problem. It sounds like a Sound Card problem not a winamp problem. It may be fixed in 5.0? I don't have onboard sound, so you will have to test and tell us when 5.0 is out |

Winamp 5 Beta 2 Video Performance
Hi there, I have just had a go using Winamp 5b2 on my laptop, and its video performance is significantly poorer than the other media players I have installed.
I am playing fullscreen DivX content using the DivX 5.1 codec. Here's what happens: BSPlayer 0.86.493 ----------------- 55 - 60% CPU usage Smooth audio/video playback Windows Media Player 9 ---------------------- 60 - 65% CPU usage Smooth audio/video playback Winamp 5 Beta 2 (modern skin) ----------------------------- 85 - 100% CPU usage Smooth audio playback Choppy video playback with frames dropped Winamp 2.91 and Winamp 5 Beta 2 (classic skin) ---------------------------------------------- 60 - 75% CPU usage Smooth audio playback Slightly choppy video playback Of course, I've turned off the modern skinning, but the video playback is still not 100% smooth with winamp. I guess I'll just have to stick with BSPlayer or WMP9 -- but if Winamp video playback was a little more lean/efficient, I'd much rather just use Winamp. Here are the specs for my machine if it is of any use: Dell Latitude CPt S600GT Celeron 600MHz 256Mb RAM 6GB HDD Windows XP SP-1 DirectX 9.0b DivX 5.1 There is 112Mb memory usage when playing video w/ Winamp, and running Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and Windows Task Manager Brgds, Grant |

Okay, I don't so much have bugs to report yet, but rather I have a couple of questions...
1. What set of skins do I download from to use with WinAmp5, WinAmp2 or WinAmp3 skins? 2. When WinAmp Pro is available, what payment methods will be accepted? Mainly, will PayPal be an accepted form of payment to order WinAmp Pro? |

Cool, Ty and one more question...
Does 5 support Shoutcast broadcasting? I ask because I am part of a group of shoutcast DJ's and we're all very interested in 5 but need to know if it does or will soon support shoutcast.... |

![]() ![]() Seriously though, Winamp3 was built from scratch on the wasabi engine, whereas Winamp is always Winamp, if ya know what I mean. Yes, it supports Shoutcast DNAS and DSP, though there's a possibility that these will be updated when 5.0 Final is released. Quote:
If so, then no, tigerstorms' reported bug relates to classic skins only. The bug there being that the playlist and video windows don't appear minimized when winamp is closed in minimized state and then reopened. As far as I know, your bug (with modern skin/s) is fixed in the latest internal builds. If it's still happening with 5.0 Final, then post again in a new thread and include some screenshots (and remind us again of sys specs, and include a list of any 3rd-party plugins, if any). |
