True milkdrop collaboration

Here's an Idea...

Why don't we do a preset that is really a collaboration between us all? Each of us takes the version in the post above and modifies it with one more effect before posting it again.

hmmm... rules...

Let's keep it in PS1.0 for now, some people still can't use PS2.

Only 1 added effect for post. Improve the beatcode, add rotation, change the color, add custom shapes/waves, etc. just do a single effect.

Add your name when you do an effect and the revision number.

EX: Goody - #1

Sound alright?

Here's a starting point:

!And - Goody - Let's have one more rule: if you take the preset, you should inform others about it, else we'll be having lots of people got reworked the same preset. OK?
I like to make the beatcodes,so I'll mash mine together and distribute it.
(sorry for my crazy english - hurrying)
Here's a preset with my "CHA" beatcode:

It took a bit for me to figure out, but I'm liking what I can do with your beatcode man.

And I don't quite get it... What do you mean in your previous comment by take the preset?

Regardless, here's another one. The (2) in the name signifies that I've done 2 effects on it.

And... Here's the first spinoff preset!

This isn't part of the collaborative preset, that's just what I got the idea from.

hmmmm... maybe if this takes off there could be a seperate thread for these...

I mean 'take part in remixing'... (Nah!) I need to study better...
Maybe we'll make these collaboration presets monthly? In 2 months, like milking-contest?
P.S. Goody, maybe you should make your own version of MBS?
P.S.2 I found the secret message

Gibber moar

Good for you maggot, let's see what you got.

And fed, I am planning on making my own. I just wanted to show off the idea that this gave me.

Flexi's code for movement gives me some more ideas. I'll be playing with it further in other presets.

Damn, I guess this is a learning experience...

I think that 5 may be the definitive version... BUT LET'S KEEP IT GOING AND SEE WHERE WE END UP!!!

I have one more!!!

Another one...
I added switching effcts (noise & tiles), better BC (now if there's a beat, it will be at least 0.5 sec. long), and a colourful beat response.
I think a custom wave (not just a stupid one) could be very helpful here, don't you?
P.S. We need more preset authors!!! If you read this, please, take part if you can!!!

wow this thing is really evolving, seriously watch them all in sequence!! On that note, how cool would it be to make a preset specifically for each song on a cd, then play them in sequence? Timing would be an issue for automation, but nothing a well placed spacebar wouldn't fix... Anyway, that is one beefed up preset, and further more Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that all four of them habitually smoke marijuana cigarettes...reefers...

Hexcollie, I've thought about doing a preset specifically for a song.

My Idea would only use very limited beat detection, and would end up using the time variable quite a lot. You can make a preset that contains different effects that are activated after a certain amount of time.

I sense a new thread...

it would be even more fun to work on a detailed theme like a face showing different moods or something like that.

as for interactivity there is still this powerful option with the wiimotes, but THAT's a topic for a new thread

I was getting around 24fps on #11 so I tweaked it to get better FPS and make it less jerky. I had to eliminate some code that wasn't doing anything anymore and substitude some multiplication of decimals for division.

The code is still there, just dblslashed.

I also added in some color code that I've used before, it's in the Per-frame code for inner border if anyone wants to play around with it.

I got rid of one of the custom waves. I tried to make the other more smooth, but it didna wanna be a'workin wit da beat'a'codin'.

I also got rid of the fastest of the custom shapes to keep it looking smooth.

EDIT: WAIT A MINUTE!!! I fixed the twitchy custom wave up!

I'm in ur thread, messin up ur presets.

Got 2 more fps for me (for a total of 7.5, yay) by deactivating some per-vertex code that didn't seem to be needed, made some slight alterations to custom shapes, changed the colorcycling of the borders, turned video echo around, deactivated custom wave and reactivated simple waveform.

Wait, 7.5 frames per second??? IN MILKDROP??? What kind of system are you on???

Anyway, it looks like maybe this one is done. (I thought it was a goner at 5, so I guess this was a success.)

I think that I like 5 and 12 most. Anyone else?

hey hex, about the sequencing with milkdrop, i had wanted to for a while when i was playing in a band, use a projector to project milkdrop with lyrics and stuff as well as specific presets and timing to the music. of course this would be somewhat of a technical nightmare, but the main idea that made me think it even possible was to have a unit of time (whatever the shortest time you'd run a preset would be) transition between presets, say 3 seconds or some time corresponding to your bpm. then you'd line up several of the same preset with the same name except ie, preset 1.milk, preset 2.milk, preset 3.milk, etc., or however many units you want to run that preset, make the transitions in milkdrop sequential instead of random, and make sure obviously, then, that the names you chose would then run in the sequence you want by them being named alphabetically. make sense? i suck at explaining things, so probably not. the only variable which might screw things up might be cpu grinding affecting how long a preset really is on, vs how much you tell it to be on for the unit length, since i've seen this vary greatly on my slow computer. anyway, i should probably shut up now since this isn't very related to this thread.

sry, presumably the low framerates were a result of my use of gamma correction, which can be very lame on old machines.

better?

Same naming scheme as before, just keep it second collaboration and add in your name.

I found out the cause of my framerate problem - I set the mesh size too large, and - believe it or not - hadn't really realized the crappy framerate yet. Runs smooth with more modest setting now.

Anyway, added Geiss's motion blur shader to this one, and played around a bit with the comp shader - it's now randomly colored, with a sort of cool glow effect.

I'm not seeing any colorcycling, so I added some.

Also: Lens effect by playing around with Zoom/Zoom Exponent, bigger waveform to work with it.
