Undetermined DNAS or YP issue...

Do you know if having 2 auth hashes under two streams with the same name, website, tags, and portbase (but created on different machines with different IPs) would pose an issue?

I forgot to mention, only one of the shoutcast processes is currently running.

it won't pose an issue though if the details are the same, you probably should just have one authhash and use it on both machines as different bitrates / content types will not be merged into the same listing if using the same authhash. also as a note, it is only managing of the authhash which is IP locked so you can re-use it on multiple instances of the same stream.

One of them was a temporary stream that I set up. I don't have access to the other one. We're having issues with the stream (not managed by me) dropping the YP connection.

Just trying to pinpoint what could be causing it.

But if what you said doesn't make a difference, that's not the case.

the log file from the DNAS with the issues would be the best place to start looking to see what the issue might be...

Hi Daz, I know! I have to wait on the IT department to get those log files, unfortunately :/

I'll get that information and get back to you tomorrow... hopefully.

EDIT: forgot to ask: Would the source disconnecting for a little bit pose any issue in the DNAS connecting to the YP? The DNAS should reconnect upon source reconnection, right?

everytime the source goes away then the YP connection will be removed and the station will be de-listed. when the source re-connects, then the YP connection will be re-established.

with a source going up / down frequently, then that is going to cause most client connections to keep being dropped and the stream not never properly appear in the Directory.

I think the source was only dropped once.

If it helps, I don't know if you're able, but you can go and delete all of the hash tags except the most recent one created.

I'm glad this should fix it.

It took me sooooo long to get the IT department to switch from real streaming to shoutcast. But that's okay, it's better than us having to pay for third party streaming elsewhere. Then we had these issues, which didn't help my case haha.

I'll keep you posted. The changes should be made sometime monday, I believe.
