Favorite Game: First Person Shooters/RPG's or Strategy

Okay, my friends and I are huge gamers, we love games, PC, console, ect, but here's the dilema... my favorite game right now is Neverwinter Nights-RPG, one of my friends favorite game is Warcraft III-Strategy (Night Elves are Broken), and my other friends favorite game happens to be Halflife-First Person Shooter..

Now, I just wondered what people liked more, I mean personally I think that the gaming market (especially PC Games) are saturated with First Person Shooters, and a lot of them are soo half assed and undone that they are just a remake of something else.

So now I leave it in your hands to fight, poll and figure out what's better. (Even though I think we can all agree that regardless of our opinion here, Solitare is the best game of all time).

i simply could not vote.... I like them all. I too play NWN now and have recently been playing Day of Defeat for HalfLife. So far, these are the best out right now in my opinion (medal of honor is also very good i assume, but since i already have dod for free, i did not get this one). By the way, what server do you play NWN on online?

I like different types of games...

First person shooters? I have Quake 2 and Quake 3: Arena. I love both of them. I haven't really played any others.

Role-playing? I don't really get into rpgs. I love most of The Legend Of Zelda series for Nintendo, but that's more along the lines of action/adventure. Still, great nonetheless.

Strategy? Command & Conquer. Yeah baby!

Others? I like most racing games. If it's fast and destructive, it's got my vote.

Really? I haven't played TS. The only C&C games that I've played are Command & Conquer (N64), Command & Conquer Red Alert (Win95), and Command & Conquer Red Alert: Retalliation (PSX). I've also played Dune 2000 (PSX). I liked all of those.

i don't know man, strategy games have been played out too much in the past. It will have to be a strategy game of such incomprehensible grandiosity for me to buy another. To hell with the children of command and conquer.

Best Game ever made: Halo. (FPS)
2nd best game: Unreal Tourney (FPS)
3rd best: Half-Life (FPS)
4th best: The Thing (Action/3PS)
5th best: Deus Ex (RPG)
6th best: Starcraft (RTS)

I have my reasons for putting Final Fantasy or any turn based RPG on that list. Give me Deus Ex any day.

Well, I play alot of FPS`s, but my heart is with racing games.

But, what`s even better is a cross between both (i.e. Mafia, GTA 3).

Games I currently play (or will be playing soon):

- Mafia
- Jedi Knight II
- F1 2003
- GTA: Vice City
- NFS: Hot Pursuit 2
- Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix
- 4x4 Evo 1 & 2

Don't confuse "point and click contest" strategy with true Turn Based strategy; Proper strategy games should allow for an actual time for the players to think out their maneuvers, issue orders, refine in-game economic systems.

This whole "Real time Strategy" thing is little better than doom or quake.

The PC version of Axis & Allies was surprisingly well done. It's the only turn-based strategy game I will play (although I must admit, I haven't tried many others).

GTA3!!! me loves. it wouldent work on my computer, but the computer teacher at school let me put it on the good comp there. i play it every day at lunch, and everyone gathers around to watch me shoot people and steal cars.

i support xerxes.... they need to change it to "real time tactics" or something... for stratagy, you should be allowed to choose the goal as well, not just the means for killing someone.

so:
Civ I
Civ II
Civ III
Alpha Centauri (same thing, different graphics)
etc.

I've never really been interested in FPS; guess the multi-player modes makes them a lot more interesting but I'm kind of a lonely wolf when it comes to playing
Anyway, I'd go for RPGs, although the most interesting games don't get a release here in Europe

Right! The word "strategy" is so overused these days, and its misused to. Tactics denote small goals to reach longer goals. All these mouse click game fans talk about shooting someone in the head rather than the crotch from this corner of the room rather than that corner as strategy, when it's really just split second decisions that approach tactics.

Hitman 2 requires strategy? I've just been running through levels with the suppressed 9mm, shooting any guards/bystanders that I come near...it seems to work quite well, and I get the leet "Mass Murderer" title every time.

are you quite mad? I had a look at the thing, thought it would be pretty good, so i got it and I can say that it is one of the worst games i have played in a long time. It starts off OK, but it very quickly turns into little more than a movie. and the auto aim is annoying, it targets the little things first, big things later. And it has graphics issues (it refuses to go above 640x480 16 colour 60Hz on a gf4 mx440, athlon 1900+, 256Mb ddr)...

[eidt]some1, that is good, but try getting silent assassin (no alarms tripped and onlt target(s) killed. that is real fun.

[edit2]what is your normal kit-out? i just go for anaesthetic, fiber wire, ballers and 9mm suppressed. nothing else.

[edit3]xerxes - hitman uses REAL strategy, I plan out my missions when i start, using the map, where i will go, which guards i will kill, BEFORE i do it. All of my shots are headshots.

I've considered it, but the guy's walk/stealth mode speed is PAINFULLY slow to me, and running attracts attention, so I have to shoot the people that see me.

fiber wire
9mm suppressed
Deagle
Sniper Rifle/suppressed SMG depending on the type of mission

Edit: And I pressed the little red button inside the ninja castle and it made the alarm go off and then the ninjas came and killed me...NEVER press little red buttons.

First person shooter's I'm crap at, bar snipeing or using photon Artilery

RPG's are ok much inproved over FPS's for me, more mind problems.

Stratergy I rock, Bring me Armada 1 and watch the enemy run, well fly, away screaming.
