5.1 Surround Sound
I Have 5.1 Surrond Sound on my pc, but with Winamp it only plays sound through the front two speakers. How do i change this?

play a 5.1 file might help. cd's(and anything generated from a cd) are nearly always 2.0.
sacd's and dvd's are usually 5.1 but can be 2.0 aswell. playing a standard cd in 5.1 is pointless, makes you loose sound quality, might sound louder because of the middle speaker. There is a loss of definition and its not how cd's are meant to be listened to. |

Try the KB 5.1 output plugin (in the plugins section).
Note: you must set it up properly in the config first! |

There is a ac3-filter for winamp with that you can listen to ac3- and dts-files (actually it's enough to rename your 5.1.wav files to *.dts or *.ac3).
Sorry, but you can't play SACD's or audioDvd's with Winamp. Instead I use MPC combinet with the AC3-Filter, unhappily for Winamp that works ![]() |
