server providing falsified information

Hi,

For a few days now sc_serv.log has been full of the following:

<03/26/04@09:26:47> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<03/26/04@09:26:47> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Your server has been permanently banned for providing falsified information.)

I know for a fact that no falsified information has been provided, which means the error has a different meaning.

Anyone knows what this error really means?

yes, drewbar, of course.
I actually read it before I even began encoding files.

1) No spyware and no pop-up hell. There was a single small exit pop-up with 4 pictures that is easy to close and does not open other pop-ups, that is all.

2) There was no intro file

3) There were no real ads within the stream

I also searched the forums for what else this message can mean:

4) The lisener numbers were not falsified. I don't even know how to do that.

5) The content was broadcast with permission from the copyright holder

Another thread mentioned this can be caused by the published bit rate not being close to the real bit rate, but this does not apply to my stream either.

I could just use a different network but that would be silly if the stream just gets banned again.

The idea is to correct the problem, whatever it may be.

I have also been informed that streams which just stream a few minutes of content in a loop with advertisment are banned as well.

The stream contained a decent amount of content, so that's probably not the problem.

Any other possibilties come to mind?

try from new host, if it gets banned again then you know your stream sucks. Best way to go about it.

Not really. Who knows, maybe it got banned because of some configuration error somewhere and then it would get banned again because of the same minor, easily fixable, problem.

The good folks at NullSoft have spent a lot of money and time to create Winamp TV.

The idea is not to saturate the directory listing with garbage content of endless looped video or spam advertising listings. The purpose is to provide a means for the distribution of *actual* content.

The ability to be listed in the station directory is not a *right* its a *priviledge*.
