mono only
I installed WinAmp on my laptop (Win 7) and now my radio stream plays back only in mono. Even windows media player only streams in mono now. What config change caused this? I uninstalled Winamp, no change to the win media player. I reinstalled Winamp Lite, no go... stream plays back in mono, tho it lights the "stereo" light; win media player also still stuck in mono.

if you have two different apps playing back in mono, its likely an OS / driver setting, not the app.
try playing local files. PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

Yes, I think that's what it is--an os or driver problem. Local files play in stereo fine. But prior to the Winamp installation, windows media player worked correctly in stereo on streams. Now the streams play in mono.
Any idea where can I make changes to get back stereo in the os or driver configs? (Win 7) |

not really, but if local files are stereo, maybe its not the OS. have you tried lots of different streams? new ones to you? maybe the orig streams are mono?
post links to some example streams. PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |
