no idea what you are talking about. Diskwriter output writes the sound output to a user defined directory. You don't hear anything. try directsound or waveout for that.

Can you tell us what exactly you are trying to do? What happened when you did this "thing" at home? And then at work?

What i want to do is to convert cda files to wav, i do this with the disk writer plugin and normally i press play then and normally it would convert the files into wav, the tracktime would go faster then to cux it is converting. Now it just plays the track with sound and normally when im converting u dont hear sound and it is converted, but here no files in the target directory

well, ok, i think i have something seriously wrong with winamp 2.8
it doesnt seem to play my mp3s anymore and i noe they're there. instead when i click on playlist it tells me that 'are you sure you want to overwrite... {something something something}' and my songs wont play AT ALL. at the top of the message it says something about disk writer, so i wasjust wondering...????

Basic Winamp Output Plugin functionality, that even newbies should know j/k

Go to: Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Plugins -> Output
Select (by single left clicking) one of:
WaveOut or DirectSound Output (the choice is yours)
These are the 2 plugins used for normal playback.
Currently, you've got Disk Writer selected (and you must have done this yourself at some point, because it can't happen all by itself).
As stated above, DiskWriter is used for writing/converting files to WAV
So you might also want to search your hard drive for any big ass WAV files you've been creating whilst Disk Writer was the active output plugin.
