what headphones to buy?
I'm looking to buy some headphones for my mp3player, because i'm sick and tierd of the cheap-o 15$ ones i've had for the past who knows how many years.
I'm willing to spend 40-60$ american. I've looked online, ebay, amazon, but most of what i find are for home theaters. Anyone have any good suggestions for some headphones that I can plug into my mp3player? |

If you're willing to use a headset you can get great sound pretty cheap, only thing is, they're big.

If you're willing to wear 'real' headphones outdoors and don't need isolation, Sennheiser PX100 got very good reviews everywhere and are still quite compact. (The closed PX200 are much more problematic: if they don't fit perfectly on your ears you get no bass.)

Now thats different, i wouldnt be seen in the for love nor money, embarrasing. I usually perfer to have ear phones. I own a nice set that cost me £11, which isnt bad, the sound quality on them is brilliant.

Unfortunately the really big ones usually need more power than portables can deliver, and they cost more too.
The HD497 is bigger than the PX100 (and got 5 cans at headphone.com) but still doesn't go completely around the ears (probably depends on the size of your ears as well ![]() |

You can get some Grado SR60s for about $70.
They're all about good sound, not looks. They're comfortable, though. Note: they don't "cover" your ears (they rest on them), so they don't block out ambient noise at all.
