How do you like it?
I see that it is only for mp3 files and uses the Discogs database. Now I'm mostly using WACUP which is using the MusicBrainz database for various file types that support tagging. However I have never found auto-tagging to be error free, no matter who is providing it. I usually end up having to correct 1 or more items. So I search the internet for info when needing to add or correct metadata and enter it manually. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

I don’t want to taint anyone else’s feedback.
I used an app that used MB long ago, and it spammed my tags with all kinds of MB only tags that I didn’t want. Idk if that’s a MB thing or just that app. I’d be curious how wacup does it. Wacup should make tagging a plugin, so differing sources can be used. I wonder how much audio fingerprinting it does? You will need to direct your comments and questions directly to DrO at the WACUP site. I have no idea what his final plans are auto-tagging. I've only used WACUP's MusicBrainz support for identifying tracks when playing commercial CDs (which it does perfectly so far for the metadata it provides).
I have tried MusicBrainz Picard, mp3Tag and other apps in the past 12 months or more and didn't like any of them. As I said in my post, I now do all my audio media file tagging manually. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Last time i tried auto tag using mp3tag, it kinda messed up almost a dozen of my albums. I'm never gonna do it again.

Luckily i had a backup. But not everyone maintains a proper backup of all the data in their systems, right? It's more time & energy consuming than what ppl care to admit.

So if you had a backup back then, and presumably have a new one now or at least still know how to make one, and also there are Mp3tag users who not have problem with using it for auto-tagging - then would that not suggest the problem being an inept user and not Mp3tag or some hypothetical ppl AKA people?

Dude, did you just call me an inept user in a public forum? Thats not nice! I'm a advanced systems programmer who wrote x86 assembly cpu instruction when i was 15. I supply software for nasa & boeing. I'm far from inept.
Are you the guy who developed that stupid mp3tag application? Recommend everyone to use it only if you want to corrupt ur music collection. |

rtx4090 - it did call you inept, I did not wrote that great piece of constantly upgraded free software; and I do now publicly repeat, that you are in fact not only inept, but apparently also so full of yourself that you are unwilling to admit to making some stupid mistake and even blaming your own flaws on others
If you stop being so sure of yourself then maybe next time you will make a backup before you start working on any data or files Have a nice life, dude |

Thank you for your advise & encouragement and especially all those kind words! But i'm not touching the shit piece of software mp3tag every again. Also, recommend all my friends not to even go near it ever. God save all the music files from that nasty software mp3tag that eats our files for breakfast.
