MP3 sounds like CD Data

I have no idea what the hell is happening, but my mp3s are screwed up hardcore. Here's the situation: one of my sister's friends were downloading from WinMX, playing with Winamp, and surfing the net all at the same time, and then the computer freezes up, which was bound to happen. After the restart, then the WEIRD stuff started to happen: every time I attempted to play an MP3 with winamp, the computer COMPLETELY locked up. Couldn't move the mouse, keyboard was shot, could do nothing but manually unplug the thing. So I restarted again, and tried playing with Windows Media Player (heaven forbid, but I was desperate!). When I tried playing an mp3 with that, all I could hear was beeps and pauses - almost exactly like a data CD sounds like in a CD player, but there was no CD in the drive! So I re-installed winamp, which got rid of the freezing problem, but I still cannot listen to a single mp3 (new or old) on my computer! HELP!!!
