m3u versus pls

Greetings,

How does m3u compare to pls? I'm trying to decide which format to save my playlist in. Ideally, I'm hoping that the directories would be stored in relative paths (not absolute).

I've already searched the forum but couldn't find a discussion on playlist formats.

Shane.

m3u is probably better especially as it's not going to have issues if you go over 64k entries as pls can have (due to the OS apis' which are used in Winamp for it - pls is just a specific ini file).

otherwise functionally they can both hold the same information and m3u is the default preferred anyway. though depending on your files, if you have non-english characters then m3u8 would be the safer option though adoption of it in other players isn't as wide-spread as m3u and then pls (since WMP doesn't support pls playlists).
