Compilation albums show multiples...

I'm using Winamp 5.52, and I've loaded all my music into the Media Library. Now, I have a fair few compilation albums, and for some reason they are showing up in multiple instances. Here's a screenshot:

As you can see, the Candlelight Collection Vol. 5 shows up five times. I kind of know why, but I can't stop this from happening. Each instance of the album shows the bands on the album. There's five different bands, each contributed two songs to the compilation, hence the five instances. At first I thought it could be cos I stuffed up the ID3 tags, and the album name is different for each band's songs. But it's not, I've checked.

It's odd cos not all the compilations in my media library do this, but most do.

I have it set to Other: Genre / Artist / Album Art.

I'll try changing Artist to Album Artist.

Didn't work. : /

How come my URL above didn't work? Is there another way of showing people my screenshot?

I dod not say change the Smart View filter layout, I asked if you had the Album Artist field filled. Winamp groups covers by Album Artist then Artist. If the Album Artist field is empty Winamp can think that compilations are different albums because the Artist field is different. Fill something in for Album Artist and it will correct the problem. You could use the album name, Various, Various Artists, Compilation, etc.

Ahhh I see...

Yes, it is filled. I've put the same text as the Artist field. I'll change it to Various.

That fixed it right up. Danke!

Can you tell me what the point of the Album Artist field is? I don't quite see why it's needed...

Didn't you just find out what it is for?

Lets say you have two albums and they are both called Worst of... but one is of Elvis Presley and the other is of Michael Jackson. Do you want these two seperate albums to be bundled into/under one cover? I should hope you say you want two different covers. Winamp will show the two covers.

What about an album called Piece of shit pop collection vol. 314? Every track is by a different blond-haired white bimbo. This should have one cover, shouldn't it? Winamp will think it is many separate albums unless you fill some value for the Album Artist field.
