Local Media vs. Playlist
Hey
I've been playing with Winamp 5.572, and I have a suggestion. I REALLY like the three pain view you click on Local Media - Audio. You can easily navigate to an artist, album, etc and play one song or a group of songs. However, what I do not like is that there is no way to permanently filter or remove some content. For example, lets say that all my audio files in: C:\mp3 and all my music is in: C:\mp3\music and all my comedy is in: C:\mp3\comedy The issue I have is this. When I go to the Local Media - Audio view, I get both my comedy and music mp3's shown which is really messy. I would really like to generate a sub folder under Audio and have multiple different "watch" folders that I can have automatically update when I add or delete mp3's from the watched folders. Now I'm sure someone is going to suggest that I just make two playlists. One for music and one for comedy. Well first of all the above two folders is a simplification of what I really have. And second, Playlists are static and do not update. If I add, delete, or move files, they do not update. I don't want to have to constantly update and create playlists every time I add new music. The way that winamp updates the Local Media is GREAT! BUT, I really would like to be able to organize the content and use it with that great three pain view. Thanks, Jason S. |

Create another Local Media view...
1. right click on Local Media > select 'Add Smart View...' 2. from the 'Choose a Preset:' drop-down box select 'Audio' 3. click the plus button underneath the first "formula" boxes, that will bring up a 2nd row of "formula" boxes 4. make sure and is selected between the two rows of "formula" boxes 5. in the 2nd row, first column select 'Filename' > 2nd column select 'Contains' > third column add all or part of the path for the folder you want create a view for. Example (from your example)... C:\mp3\music or just, mp3\music 4. At the bottom of the 'New Smart View' box, give it a new name > Press the OK button Do the same steps for comedy and/or other folders you would like to add |
