Anime skins

Okay, so I might have too much time on my hands. But somenody tell me why, after you get about 3-4 hundred into the anime skins section, you start getting skins not related to anything anime? This part might belong in the venting forum, but POWERPUFF GIRLS AND DEXTER'S LAB ARE NOT ANIME. They are ordinary american cartoons, and as such do not belong in the anime section. I wonder if anyone could tell me why they get there.

so I see no harm in dexter skins being in the anime category.

To answer your original question as to why the skins ended up in those particular categories . . . with the exception of generated and rated skins, it is the skin author who determines which category he/she would like the skin placed in. You get two possible choices, so the skins you mentioned probably ended up in both the cartoon and anime sections. It makes more sense to put those skins in the anime section than putting them in the human or computer or university sections. I would think those who like anime skins would appreciate them more than someone who downloads, say, stereo skins.

The skin authors can choose which categories they'd LIKE their skins to be in. Its the reviewers that get the final say.

look, I don't consider DBZ high class, I just think that the real high class ones, such as the ones in my list below, should be separated from crappy american cartoons.

yes, I have, and I really do not think that it is respectful, but i dont really care about that. What I care about is that anime skins of high quality are appearing on page, like, 100, and american cartoons are appearing on page 1! that pisses me off!

i watch DBZ and i have all the movies, but its the only good anime, sorry, ive been watching it since im 11 years old im now 17 and ive seen others, they suck, not good, sorry.

Southpark, Simpsos, Futurama all take anime down, Americans are funny, japanese are to serious, sorry to hurt ur feelings but they wont be seperated and, in my opinion, this thread has gotten pretty pointless as the issue was resolved already with a big fat resounding "NO!"

I watch The Simpsons, South Park, and Futurama. I just prefer the seriousness of Japanese animation. And if you don't like that, well, there ain't nothing I can do about it.

japanese animation serious? you've got to be kidding me, as animation goes, the japanese have way sillier and funnier stuff then any american cartoon will ever have. not that I don't like american cartoons, the simpsons are probably my favourite cartoon ever, but the japanese have a huge range of animation and while some of it is serious, a lot of it is just plain old fun

And how much actual anime have you seen? I am one of the three local experts on anime in my SE Michigan city, so I think I know what I'm talking about when I say that most anime is serious. You've never seen the Gothic anime, so you don't understand.

As long as most anime televised here is on the same networks as American animation/cartoons, the category is going to be together. Doesn't thrill me either, but hey, that's life.

It's not so much that more of it's serious, either, just that with a few exceptions, most American animation is aimed strictly at a children's demographic, where as anime is NOT.

And without trying to start an unrelated war here, CCS and Samurai X are NOT high class anime but Americanized versions of Cardcaptors and the Kenshin Battousai OAVs, respectively. What about Serial Experiments Lain, 3x3 eyes, DNA2, Vision of Escaflowne, Evangelion, Mononoke Hime, Ah My Goddess... :P well, you get the idea... After 2 years on an anime website (started as DBZ, and making DBZ skins gets old, lemme tell you), there's just tons of good ones out there that are much harder to find. And finding GOOD ones of even the more popular anime is a chore, I'd consider just making 'em, if you have even some time and patience.

Even if just for your own use.

Trust me, it's addictive...

hey I'm not saying that some anime aren't serious, I'm just saying a lot of anime aren't serious, I'm no expert but I've seen my fair share of anime and while there certainly are very serious anime out there, some of them, no lots of them are pretty silly

In case you were wondering, CardCaptors is the Americanization of Card Captor Sakura (CCS) and Rurouni Kenshin is the Americanization of Samurai X, which is the actual Himura Kenshin/Hitokiri Battousai anime series.
I forgot to put NG Eva in my list, also Escaflowne and Ah! My Goddess. There's a lot more anime than you think there is, and I've seen some of the best out there. What about Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, The Excel Saga (although I think I may have already said that), Initial D, Blue Gender, La Blue Girl (So it's hentai, so sue me), etc.? I have my points, such as I do not watch the Kids' WB network, because it has lame Americanizations of what would be good anime, if they had not been edited to a pulp. And the Americanized Dragonball sucks big ass, because they took out the "pat pat" joke!

It's a nuisance, because most people here associate anime with the Americanized televised series, so when an adult says they like anime, explaining it's 1) not all hentai or 2) not kiddie cartoons...

Anyways, that's what actually got me started skinning, was the lack of many decent anime skins of chars I wanted, though I've been slacking lately, just don't want to look at one more pic of DBZ right now, even if it is the original! And thought the "no balls" removal, well, didn't EXPECT it to be left in, but *sigh* ruins it.

So now I try to alternate skinning other stuff with anime so I don't get too burned out. There's only so many ways to do pics on skins without feeling like I'm getting uncreative.

And I'm behind on the TV listings for the month - thank goodness for the I-Channel and Encore Action...

The categories I really don't have an issue with, only thing is I've noticed I can't even pull up my own skins on searches worth crap. They only come up under maybe one word of the title, none of the others pull 'em, and it's not usually the word I'd prefer, oh well. Such is life.
