System Requirements & Quick Opinion
Hey everyone.
I am building a new system to be the automated playlist for my 24/7 shoutcast station. I am thinking of running SAM2, and I am just wondering your opinions on the minimum system requirements. I couldnt find them on the site, but I also wanted opinions from actual users. I know without asking 256MB ram or above, and I know my OS will be Win 2000...with a minimum processor of 1.3 Duron. What are your thoughts? I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck. I have about $400 for this whole thing (mobo with onboard video/lan/audio, processor, case, ram). If I get a cheap barebones system with the 1.3GHz Duron and the generic mobo and stuff that would be $150. Add $50 for crucial ram and then $200 for SAM2 and that puts me right at the mark. What are your thoughts? -Mark |

Well, here's what I ended up getting:
HARDWARE AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 256MB DDR Crucial (gonna upgrade soon to 512) Giga-Byte Motherboard (on board sound/video/lan) 30GB Maxtor 7200RPM Mitsumi CDROM Case with 12cm fans in front and back for cross airflow Total Cost: $237 (without hard drive) SOFTWARE SAM2 (gonna buy today) Tomass Limiter (GREAT by the way) Winamp 2 dbPowerAMP MySQL Windows 2000 So far, everything has run smooth, except for a crash last night while ripping a CD in dBpowerAMP! -Mark |

You already have a better computer than me. Guess I'm gonna have to ride down to Flordia and buy from DJ Killer, maybe I'll get a discount.
