username = 'admin' (without the quotes) and is not configurable. Careful.. it is case sensitive.

password = defined in the DNASs sc_serv.ini configuration file (default section shown below):
code:
; Password. While SHOUTcast never asks a listener for a password, a
; password is required to broadcast through the server, and to perform
; administration via the web interface to this server. This server should
; consist of only letters and numbers, and is the same server your broadcaster
; will need to enter in the SHOUTcast Source Plug-in for Winamp. THIS VALUE
; CANNOT BE BLANK.
Password=changeme

Does your ISP block ports?

Hello I am new to running the shoutcast server, I been a webradio DJ for months and had to use the shoutcast plugin with winamp to stream so I'm ok with that...

It only took me 10mins to download the server programme and start streaming.. but this title error kept showing...so I registered here and surfed this pinboard for help and I FOUND it..

Thanks TOM who ever you are

The Redhat Shout Cast Server

Hey all,

Im running redhat 9.0, installed the server and trans in different folders in my /usr/local folder.

Im having a dilemma, and I beleive the problem occurs when sc_trans tries to connect on the 8001 port.

i start up sc_serv:
liquidshift:/usr/local/shoutcast-1-9-2-linux-glibc6> ./sc_serv
Event log:
<01/27/04@18:49:25> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/Linux v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up...
<01/27/04@18:49:25> [main] pid: 29067

Change your serverport to 8000. sc trans takes the listener port as the value for serverport not the source port. Setting the serverport value to 8001 will cause sc_trans to try and connect to port 8002.

Hey it worked! but....

Hey again, thanx for the post, helped alot, however...

When I check the status on www.liquidshift.com:8000 it says it is online, but when i try and listen, it says:

C:\.....Temp Internet Files\Content.IE5\GFPR66F1\listen[1].pls"
Path does not exist.

I have checked other radio stations listen.pls file, and mine is identical (except for the fact that they put their actual ip, I put http://www.liquidshift.com:8000.

If this is the problem dont correct me b/c i will change it to http://myIP:8000 and see if it works, but I doupt it is the problem.

When I type in my url into winamp the song reads:
[ICY 200 OK] http://www.liquidshift.com:8000/
but it doesnt play anything.

also, it seams my shoutcast server goes offline after 20seconds or so.

thanx

You do not have to make a listen.pls file, Shoutcast DNAS generates it automatically. If www.liquidshift.com points to the IP of the machine you are running your DNAS server on and 8000 is the port that it is running on then http://www.liquidshift.com:8000/listen.pls is the correct URL for listeners.

However there is no DNAS server running on http://www.liquidshift.com:8000/ is this because you says shoutcast only stays running for 20 seconds, if so what does the error log says ?

http://www.liquidshift.com brings up a web page so the server box is up and running and port 80 is certainly open.

I got it to work, but not on linux

Well, since all my songs are on my XP box anyway, I found it much easier to host the server on that instead, and have my linux server (the part that worked) relay to it.

tada! a working server
found at:
http://www.liquidshift.com/listen.pls

thanx jackherer!!!!!!!!

By "it", do you mean WinAmp?

If so, chances are that it's checking the server you're attempting to connect to to make sure that your IP is not on the ban list. Nothing to worry about.

See if this thread helps.

Also, you will need to link with portbase 8000, not 8001.
