ok... love the new eq window... but when will that window be accesable? I mean, I can see why it is needed for the windows that don't have eq's built in, but will it be accessable when in a mode that already has an eq? Mabey it should simply disapear apun changing to a mode that has a built in eq. I really don't know.

currently the only place you can alter the crossfade and balance bars are in the eq window. Since there is no need for the eq window when in a mode that already has an eq built in, you need to add the crossfading/balance options somewhere in those modes. Mabey you could just put them in the configuration window you made. Or mabey squeeze them into the settings tab in those windows that use tabs. I don't know. But definetly find somwhere to put em so they are accessable in all windows, otherwise your skin will not be deemed compleate by the winamp staff skin reviewers.

Exclamation Updated Beta Available!

Yup, it's that time again:

Here's the download:
Mercury_10-08-2002.wal (512KB)

The skin now has seperate EQ and Thinger windows for easy access in the smaller modes. The EQ has it's own stick mode. The player stick mode now has buttons for shuff/repeat/cross. The switch buttons now display a drop-down of available modes. The Configure panel is now tab based, but I haven't put new options in yet.

Let me know what you think!

i just downloades a skin called mmd3 and i saw something all skins must have but no one had thought about or didn't know hot to do it, i mean the colour theme drawer, if it's not too late for implement it on mercury, I will like it to be put somewhere. In case it is too late i would like to see it in any of your next releases. It just my opinion but i think many will agree with me.Any way i also think you should go for the entire solar system and why not the milky way(laugh)

Yeah, that mmd3 is an awesome skin, and that built-in theme drawer is a really cool feature. I doubt it will make it into Mercury, but maybe in another skin I do...

I have a little suggestion with the configure panel, now that it is tab based i think it might be a little smaller because it takes some unnecesary espace, i mean it is to high only about 30% of the panel height is used.

I know it's too big right now, actually some of the tabs will end up being combined under a more general name and new tabs will appear, but it won't end up that big. It's still in flux right now while I figure out where everything is going to go. Thanks though!

i think it would be cool if you had a color theme select tab...its kinda lame having to go into prefrences to change, especially when there are so many good ones

Now that's not a bad idea, it would certainly be more convenient than going into the preferences. I'll work on that...

Impressive work. Very good, keep it up!

One bug I found... The Thinger scrolls the other way for each scroller. It's a Beta, Final will look pretty cool.

Awesome skin. Not a resource hogger either!

Hi rpeterclark,

I have 2 small bugs with the last beta (10-08-2002) (host is WinXP, alpha enabled) :
- First screenshot happenned when i released the mouse button only after the mode change menu appeared, and it caused wa3 to crash.
- Second one makes a wierd vis, but it only happens in classic mode, others are unaffected.

Hope this helps.

Keep up the good work!

That first bug is interesting, I'll see if I can figure that one out.

The second one isn't a bug, just some unfinished graphics. It does look pretty wierd. I'll be changing the vis area in normal mode a lot soon, so it'll get fixed.

Thatnks for catching that bug!

Wow.... don't think I've looked at this thread since it was 2 pages long. I just came up to speed today and I must say the skin is well done, the multi modes are sure to please everyone.

As mentioned earlier the absense of a stop button is an issue and for that I suggest letting the eject button switch to a stop button when System.onPlay() and then back to eject when System.onStop()

Good work and I love the way everyone chipped in on making color themes. I only wish other long threads were just as productive as this one.

i have a little suggestion that don't know if can be done. maybe you could put a default mode tab in the configure panel so mercury will start in any of the 4 modes you select(something like default tab). and when you turn to slim mode it goes too the top of the screen with the alway on top option set(I don't wanna try to make you copy some mmd3 features but thats a good idea).well i hope you can do it.

I want to add something to make this skin even better :
Personnally, I think in stick mode, the font used can't permit to see well the name of tracks.
Maybe you could change the font a little

I think the font's ok, can read it just find.
I do second the motion to make the open file button also function as stop... I would also hope that in classic and stick mode, the various windows snap together, rather than several pixels apart, as they do now.

Overall, absolutely incredible skin. Excellent job rpeterclark!

here's a question. its kinda hard to figure of the min, close, and mode buttons are which. is there any way where you could have an extra menu in the right click menu that lets you switch between the modes? It might be helpful, i dunno.

for that, he'll need to rebuild the entire right-click menu, and some of the items in it are not possible to re-create..
So I really doubt he'll do that..

Quick update, I'm making good progress skinning the components. Let me tell you though, this is the worst part of making a skin. I enjoy making the player windows and everything because it's freeform and there's room for creativity, but once it gets into scrollbars and fixed dimensions, bleh. I'll have something to show soon though...

Great skin, bu there is one small niggling issue I'd like to bring up - in previous releases, the skin would snap to the edges of the screen and leave a few pixels buffer at the top edge (specifically the stick view). In newer releases it snaps right against the top of the screen, which makes it look strange, at least on my machine.

Other then that, great skin - can't wait until the playlists and such are done

I am sure this is probably just me, but I dont care if the components are skinned or not.

Normal mode: Notice the 3 small buttons above the Play button? Press the bottom-right one, a menu will pop.

Classic mode: top small button on the right, a menu will pop.

Stick mode: top small button on the right, a menu will pop.

Mini mode: Top small button on the left, a menu will pop.
