It's coming... hopefully today even though I've said that for a couple days now. My real job has me bogged down with deadlines, but I'm really trying to get this out.

I really hope they do. I still think the CPU usage is ridiculous.

Oh man, this skin is great. I registered just to comment.

I love the ease of use and how feature-packed it is. I am thinking of making some code modifications just to learn how you do it. I am already making a theme, but I have homework to do, and my system is getting low on resources.

ummmm... Where is the + button. Ya know, the one that gives you the menu for the opacity and resizing thingie. I need to resize this skin. It's too small for my screen. Why is no one putting it in their skins? It is actually needed.

Exclamation Updated Beta Available!

Ah, a fresh beta to play with! Here's a screenshot of the mid-sized mode in action:

Here's the download:
Mercury_10-02-2002.wal (321KB)

What's new in this update:
  • Includes all submitted themes, over 20 last time I checked.
  • Includes mid-sized mode, not thouroughly tested, so let me know if you find any problems.
  • Dragging seek now shows destination position in song info line.
  • A "Last Selected" option for the default tab.
  • Misc other bug fixes.

Try it out and let me know if you run into any problems. In the meantime, I'll keep you all posted with my progress for the rest of the skin. Thanks again to everyone who's contributed suggestions and themes! Keep em coming!

Love it! After towing with the mid-mode, you know what my first reflex was? To double click on it and collapse it to windowshade...cant do that yet!

When you make the ultra slim mode, can you make it so a double click on the top of the mid-mode enters it?

Cant wait to see the other modes.

Holy SCHNIKIES this thing is pretty. ^_^;;; I love the midsize mode. The integration of the tabs system is great - I have had no problems to this point. It looks fabulous, and the color themes all move flawlessly into the new mode as well. I continue to be impressed by both the quality and the speed with which this skin is made.

In all honesty the bitrate/song-title in the mid-mode is a little too unreadable for me. Wont stop me from using the skin, but a bit annoying, but its probably just me

Remember WA2, how if you double clicked on the title it would bring up the file info editor? Is there anyway you can put that into this skin?

Just checked out your website, very nice.

Any plans to skin the menus or any of the menu graphics (check marks, etc)?

Oh, and when using the seeker bar/volume controls (with the new display, over the bitrate and such), the current location of the seeker is displayed, but if you stop moving it for a second, to get a pin-point location, the current song's bitrate and sampling level will refresh and cover up whatever was there. Makes it very difficult to get to a specific point. Perhaps removing the file info until a mouseup event on the seeker.

Yup, just haven't gotten there yet! It's going to have all of the bells and whistles. Every little thing I can possibly change, I probably will.

Well, it sounded easy enough, but I'm stumped, probably because I am just missing something obvious. Could one of the MAKI experts around here tell me how (if possible) to open a component window through script?

it's not..
getWac is broken, so there's no way to do it through maki right now..

Only way to do it is to make a button in xml (if you don't want it visible, just change the coordinates for it to like x=300 and y=300 or something) that toggles the editor, and the in maki just call that button whenever someone's doubleclicking the songticker..

here's the needed xml code
PHP Code:
<togglebutton
  id
="fileinfobox"

action="TOGGLE"

param="{6A17D510-7833-4CEC-A420-F08F4B280782}"

x="300" y="300"
/>

just one gripe: the volume buttons don't autorepeat very well. Why not use my autorepeatbutton lib? (link in sig)

oh... i did not know that. still kinda annoying to have to reach for the control key everytime I want the menu, but oh well.

anyway... I have a suggestion. I don't know how in gods name you would do this but here it goes.

1) Can you have it so the skin remembers where I put the midsized mode sepretly from where I put the full sized mode. Cause right now, everytime I switch between the two I have to re-move them to where I want. I know it has something to do with the glass effect you have on the screen, but it is quite nasty when it is that visable. It is barely visable on the Silver theme, as it should be.

2) in the mid sized mode. using some of the color themes makes this wiered pickle shaped blop of color appear on the main screen.

3) You should rename the "Silver" theme to "Silver (Default)".

Let's see:
1) Not sure how I would go about doing that, I'll look into it but I'm not sure there's much I can do. I'm pretty sure Winamp is in control of that, but I might be wrong. [edit]If you have seen another skin do this, point it out so I can see how they do it.[/edit]
2) Some of the color themes definately increase the contrast on the main window which makes the "shine" stand out more. If I adjust the "glass" for one theme, it'll look funny in another. Again, not too much I can do about that, but the user could always decrease the opacity of the glass in the configure panel.
3) Good idea, done!

hmm.
Its moving a bit slow for, perhaps you should knock the subsequent delay to 60ms.

Actually, this gives me an idea, I might make a mode which speeds up the autorepeat as you hold down for longer.

ummm... that's a good idea, the 'it gets fast as it is held down longer' idea, but it only takes 1 second to get from 0 to 100 in his skin.

Well, I played around with it a bit and settled on 70ms, it was 80ms before. It definately seems much smoother. For those who want to fine tune it, they can always adjust the volume button rate in the configure panel.

And your idea for an accelerating autorepeatbutton, that would be super useful!

willfisher, damn you're fast!

I'm going to include it, and probably get some opinions on it's default behaviour. I'll make it so that there is an option on the configure panel to disable/enable/adjust the speed up factor and see what the majority prefers by default.

Thanks!

I don't know if this just me, but with higher glass opacities in the mid-sized mode and the Settings tab out, it is difficult to determine the status of the Repeat and Shuffle buttons.

This really is to early to be showing, but I know how you guys like previews! Here's a sketch I have going for the corner mode.

Don't ask me where the buttons are or this or that. Nothing final yet, still moving stuff around, but you get the general idea. Just something to look forward to.

Very spiffy! I like it alright, but it's nothing revolutionary when paired with the other two modes at this point. I doubt I'd use it much, opting instead for the other forms.

Here's a glamour shot:

The corner mode has changed quite a bit since that last screenshot. I'm trying to compact it as much as possible so it will be less obtrusive. The LCD on it still needs attention.
