uhoh, i seem to cause more problems than i fix...by removing the sysregion="AND" (-2,-1,&1 all have the same effect in this case, actually) tag, you make it impossible to click the EQ and THG buttons, because they actually are underneath the layer...

the best solution to this while still keeping the tooltip is to have the tooltip thing actually going with the layer underneath the animated layer (player.display.modevisualizer.background -- which would have to be ghost="0" and sysregion="AND"), and making the animation ghosted. there are other ways, but would be a much bigger pain in the ass. hope i helped...

incase i wasnt being very clear:
code:

<groupdef id="player.mini.group.display.modevisualizer" background="player.mini.display.modevisualizer.background" drawbackground="0" w="188" h="197" ghost="1">
<layer id="player.display.modevisualizer.background" x="32" y="33" image="player.mini.display.modevisualizer.background" move="1" ghost="0" sysregion="AND" />
<animatedlayer id="player.display.modevisualizer.animation.one" x="32" y="33" image="player.mini.display.modevisualizer.animation.one" frameheight="124" autoplay="0" autoreplay="0" ghost="1"/>
</groupdef>

works well...

what's with everyone's obsession about filesize?
alright if a skin is above 5 megs, but if a top quality skin is a couple of megs, what's the big deal?
isn't it worth the extra size?
it's not like it's gonna take up all the free space on your hdd..

and for modem users, beeing a couple of megs doesn't make it impossible to download, just a bit more of a pain, but let's face it, beeing on a modem is always a pain anyways, so there's really not that big difference..

Imo, don't cut quality just to bring the filesize down a couple of kb..
It's just not worth it..

As for the manual, even if it would take up extra size, how much? 1kb? 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 100?
even if it takes up 100kb more, that's NOTHING (only a couple of seconds more of download time even for modem users).

/end of rant

about Bowb:
I dunno what it's supposed to resemble, but in my eyes, it's the swedish flag (blue background, yellow cross)!!

Plague my VAGDesign skin follows what you're saying, Has a manual, no crashed pngs and nothing extra that could make it as big as it is now 1.7MB

New-Clear with shade mode, themes etc cool extras is better than VAGDesign skin and it's only 512k.

Size doesn't matter at all on skins

Ofcourse the png's should be crashed, that's unneccesary extra space..
But I hope you don't mean that any skin can be tiny in size and still have millions of features, because that's not always true..

What I meant with my other post was, don't loose quality in order to lower size..
ie: don't make the png's uglier with the sole purpose of bringing down the size a notch..

I do, however, think you meant to agree with my post above, but I'm not completely sure..

Kiilu:
it's the general field and the player.static field needs to be opposite of each other. I also beleive the general field is the one that colors ALL text.

Example:

If You have General as:
<gammagroup id="General" value="222, 222, -1224" gray="1" boost="0" />
Your player.static HAS to be:
<gammagroup id="player.static" value="-222, -222, 1224" gray="0" boost="0" />

I could be wrong about this but I am under the assumption that this is how it is supposed to be that if not it will cause issues with various fields. There was a post about this on like page 2 or 3 of this message.

yes, that's right...

General field is the one used to color ALL text.
player.static HAS to be the exact opposite of the general field.

otherwise funny things can/will happen

What exactly would be in this "manual"? The skin still uses the standard buttons and such. A color scheme manual? I'm a bit lost at what exactly the manual would be needed for...

Nice work 1000C! Looks like you're a real theme machine You've made alot of themes yourself...but I can't say that I'll have them all included.

I agree with this completely - a few megs is "nothing" with todays HD sizes. But It's my impression that alot of people hate huge skins. As I recall some people complained about the filesize when Adils Boom was released - personally I didn't give a shit if it was 500K or 2MB...just as long it was cool.

I've thought about the manual thing long time ago and still think it's a good idea...it could just be some simple "pages" presented for the user 1'st time the skin is loaded or something - afterall it'll definately be usefull for users that haven't seen or used this skin yet. They'll miss out the small tricks and shortcuts available.

1000Corpses...check out this page in Adil's Moow thread for a nice manual concept then you'll get the idea.

I get the manual concept now. A graphics of that size cannot possibly take a ton of room. Not sure what the tightest compression format is but if I can squeeze screenshots into 11k using jpg I can't imagine a size increase would be of any consequence. Hell if size is THAT big of a dela why not make it a www page and have the mini browser shoot to that page if help is clicked?

I have no damned clue what made me make this "set" of schemes.
I blame the past. I keep making them so razmansix has a harder
time narrowing them down. ....

Some of them needs tweaking on the player.orbbuttons, lcdtext and lcdbg - to reduce the glare on some of the themes. Not just on 1000C's themes. Gimme a chance to try out all of them then I'l tell you

After removing this one from the xml file there was no error and everything loaded just fine. I put thinks because I'm by NO MEANS an expert. Just bringing this to light is all...

i had a quik scan thru this thread, and i cudnt find anything relatin 2 this, so i hope im not repeatin nefing sum1 alredy said. my pc is 2.4ghz p4, 512mb pc 2700 ram, ati 9700 pro, seagate 80gb hd etc etc. winamp3 wiv da invicta skin uses 99% processor usage! with the mmd3 skin, which shows up as 00% usage in taskman (evrything was exactly the same - same song, eq, etc etc). see taskman screen shots here:invicta , mmd3: mmd3

whats up? i dunno y its doin this, i can giv u nemore info if u want it. my pc shud easily b able2cope with invicta, especially as it registers 0% processor use with the mmd3 skin.

One of the major differences between MMD3 and Invicta is that MMD3 does not use desktopalpha and has no blended edges. If you want to see the difference in CPU usage, disable desktopalpha in Winamp's preferences and it'll drop way down. To reduce it even further, disable song ticker scrolling and the visualizers, then it's practically zero.

I'm continually trying to find ways to reduce CPU usage, so hopefully it will come down a bit by the final release.

Not this matters but I was curious if the final version will be including such things as a color scheme window (like mmd3) or any other new fields that will have to be fixed in the gammesets.
Just thinking that if any new fields are added that's going to be a pain to edit whatever schemes are kept for the final release.

Hmm... Invicta has a color theme window in the last release, available off the right-click menu. I will make sure that any changes made to the skin will not require gammagroup alterations. If it's unavoidable, I'll let you guys know what I think the best solution is, but I really don't see it happening.

i was just curious, RPC...do you know why bitmap fonts dont work with wasabi buttons? ive been bored (puttin off calculus) and messing with putting in the different bitmap fonts, but the wasabi buttons only seem to work with ttf...i think it might be because the fonts are in all upcase -- which on second thought actually makes no sense... anyways, see attatchment

I remember trying that as well and coming up with nothing. I guess it must be out of our control. Perhaps because of internationalization reasons?

I agree with breaker, that menu looks hot!
has a "wasabi" (the real stuff) feel to it

about bitmap fonts and wasabi:buttons, have you checked if the default skin works with it's bitmap fonts for buttons?

there's also the fact that changing color of the ttf fonts used in the prefs, needs to be done in specific xml files, have you tried to change the ttf font to a bitmap font in those xml files?

Main mode config drawer

I have one complaint about the config drawer when in the main mode mode. It's all cool and stuff but would it be possible to have it default to the Normal LCD Mode when you close it? It's that whole "too many clicks to do what I want thing". Actually would it be possible to allow the user to set what the default is?
