Matrix Trilogy

I was thinking of something fun to do with the winamp community. What I came up with was to do a skin that all of us can have a hand at, that is compatiable with WA5. I started a skin and now I would like to hand it over to whoever is next, maybe they can add an EQ or a shade mode or just change my skin around, then It keeps getting handed down till it is done. We can vote on to go with what was made or to scrap that stage and hand it to another person. You can move around anything I put on there and do what you think is best. Since the Matrix movie is coming out in Nov I thought of this theme skin, modeled after those sentinels in the movie. This is what I got.. Who wants the next stage? I will send original PSD to you.

first of all : wwowwwwwwwwooowwww. What a good design. The idea is not bad i wouldn´t let everyone to change something on it. In fact it would be cool if every one of the oldschool skinners would do something with and write a sript or something else. it could get a very good skin with a long credits text

that is the idea, everyone on it be included on credits..Artists name would be Forum community.

Slob- The lights on the tentacles could fade in and out, or move across the tentacle like a ticker. Also one could be a volume ect..

I have gone to the AVS forums and posted a
topic. They are hopefully going to make AVS for it like the Venom ones.

Rontz you can be first. You can either put it in a .wal and make a EQ for it or you can make the vises or what ever. Your choice. psd link

Rontz can you put it in a .wal with your Vis or vis's when your done, pass it to SLOB and then SLOB can work on button graphics and coding the positions of the buttons and or other stuff. Some stages will take longer to code. We will be patient.
Upload the graphics to Diesels board so we all have access.

I think we should have an idea of the overall goal of the skin btw
how many modes, manuals, main cbuttons etc.
at least that way we all have the same goal to aim for in completing this.
also have some main component parts that are needed for the above etc.
have a list of whos doing what etc.. some parts could be done without having the psds etc like the standard frame blah blah.

just an idea

OK great I will assign,
this is what I would like atleast in the skin.

2 modes main, winshade. We can add a another shade if you guys want you just have to make it.

Atleast 2 beat changing vis's.
One should be the tentacles overlayed with a animation, all the reds get brighter to beat. I can make the overlay. Other should be in the main screen.. Rontz is working on this.

Eq that is built into the main screen, switched by a button. Like Triton or my dominator (frisbeemonkey coded it)

Most of the new extra buttons that WA5 has built, in either a sliding layer that exposes them like in WA5 or them on the main part of skin. find all the coding for these and post em here.

Cbuttons on the Standard frame.

Find out what we have to do in the next WA5 beta release to get it to run smooth, I dont want to work on this and find we have to change anything.

Assign people instead of just people working on it then putting in a PSD.

So here is a list you can sign up for,
you have to have made a skin or be pretty good at Graphics and or Coding..



1- Need Good maki coder to overview whole thing fix mess ups like:
RPCCLARK, IPLAYSPOONS, PLAGUE, WILL, FRISBEEMONKEY if we dont get one of these guys we can do it.

2- Someone to put it in a .wal set the order of the skin layers (not too complex)

3- Need someone to make a Shade mode that is like this theme.

4- Someone to make a EQ in a container all buttons Programmed (we must agree on where we want it first)

5- Need someone to Work on the Standard frame,(playlist ect..) make the graphics. this can be done now.

6- Program the Buttons and locations also includes chopping skin to PNG's, both shade

7- Need someone to make smaller buttons for shade, min, shuffle ect.., and program positions of them. both modes.

8- WA5 Tester see if everything works fine.

9- Manual - Carlosp

10- Colorthemes we all can do.

Anything else Sign up as we go.


(Witmer777 i looked at a sentinel from the Matrix 3 trailer and put graphics together by mirroring and stretching, alot of copy paste and overlaying.)

i've got the first working betaversion for the vis ready! *g* Matrix skin - Visualisation Demo
You should have a song running, as the only thing that is included is the vis! *g*
at the moment it's pretty simple (but none the less nice! ), but i'll add a nice effect!
i have no idea for the second vis at the moment :-/
what do you think?

p.s.: dieselx4x, your upload manager doesn't like wals. could you change that?

YA Exactly how I pictured it, great job!! You can either add the next vis or hand it to SLOB to code the buttons and then he can hand it back to you for the 2nd vis your choice. One thing we got to do is do one person at a time or we get all screwed.

Skin actually looks better with DTA off...hmmm have to adjust the shade layer too much white.

Can someone look for a really cool Font that works in win 98 too.

ill stick with wotever coding conventions we have either got in place atm or we could adopt the include .m's style in one main maki

i had another idea for the stickmode, to have the sentinal eye at the top right and have on of the tenticles as the main body of the stick tapering off with some glow cells on the end of the stick, also some on the right for a pulse vis which could be done.
sort of like

y good effect on the vis, however i would of done it slightly differently.

it could of been done with 2 layers one dark and one bright and adjust the alpha to the vu, i reckon this is quicker/less demanding than going for the animation strip, what ya reckon?
i also think the top red lights should be added and the brighter red needs to be a little brighter to give it some fearful presence

as for maki code stuff i reckon we should put it all together, m files can be added as and when to the main m file.

just my opinion but i reckon the oval around the main eye part could be a little less black, also give the rim a definate edge, still have the shadow etc to maybe just a lesser extent, this would be to give it a little more clarity and definition to the main centre focal point

y just needs to b a tad brighter imo to giv it that menacing look
the little red lights above the centre i recon should be part of the vis

could also give the extreme high beat layers a bit more glow too, make it come alive.

ive added a little more definition to the main focal point, and brightened a few bits up, this is almost how i'd envisage it looking, could maybe add other bits to the definition as we go along.

what ya reckon to the subtle changes?

I dont think we want that matrix logo in the corner downright, want to leave it like it was.

Also Diesel the digital numbers look good but the buttons just dont go to great. The black numbers could be on the main too. what font is that?

Any other comments on this.

y i wondered about the matrix logo, it was in the psd, we could always put something else there.

any comments about the subtle changes, leave them in/out? I think they enhance what youve already started, the sentinels are menacing and i think it looks a little more menacing than it did.

RoNtZ - did u want to leave your vis like that with the huge file or just use one layer and adjust the alpha to the beats, that way we cut down on filesize and the beat detection only has to fade in/out.

ok.. i didn't think about reducing the alpha directly before, but it seems more intelligent to me, than the animatedlayer i'll change that.
dieselx4x, try to adjust the colors of the display, so that they fit to the mainskin.

I'll start to do the construction on it this weekend.
ill set up the following
initial maki stuff - this will consist of 1 main maki script & use include name.m so we can add as we go along
RoNtZ you can mail/pm me your code, ill use the part of the vis i pulled from your animated strip for the light tenticles (i already saved it with my version of the psd as in the above pic)

initial layer xml - this will add main shadow, bg (main), main lcd globes, focal rings (on top of globes) -this will give the illusion that the lcd globes are behind the bg without cutting away from the bg.

vis layer (for fade animation)

we can add more gamma groups as we go along but we need a few basic ones to start off with
initial gammagroup xml (a default & 1 custom to begin with) - background, lights(ie tenticle lights), lcdglobes, buttons, shadow, markers (the 2 ring parts see below), font
thats all the gamma groups i can think of adding atm

i reckon we could do something with the 2 markers with either animation and use them as buttons or something else, these are to the top left & right of the main lcdglobe

just an idea here
with each main.psd change per skinner it might be a good idea to add a number on the end so we could roll back any changes if the main.psd gets overwritten in diesels archive?

this would be the next best thing to vss
